How to update releases with screenshot when release is locked?
How to update releases with screenshot when release is locked?
example:
European Champions
I realise the obvious attempt would be to contact the person who locked the file, but doing this over and over is getting annoying.
Isn't it possible to unlock fields that are not yet filled because the person creating a release was not aware of them or to lazy to fill them? |

i agree. atleast screenshots and even more important, the actual files, should be possible to add even when the entry is locked. |

how about ad extra files always open but locking the original file too?
motivation: I've seen a few files deleted that ended up being different versions.(and yes, one of them was a mistake of my own) |

Adding sid files in locked entries would be usefull too- alot of entries had been locked before this feature was introduced. |

'crack intro used' could be another candidate for this |

I can only agree, I do hope Perff could come up with a solution for this, it's hopefully on a high place on his to do list. :)
Bordeaux, unfortunately there are some users here at csdb that keep on adding entries without a screen dump , they simply don't care to have a correct entry, this will probably never change.

I don't think the solution would be to make seartain fields unlocked on locked entries. First of all it would be a nasty hack, and I know it would cause trouble in the long run.
As the rules say, if you lock an entry you are responsible for maintaining that entry as good as possible, that is make sure as much info is pressent and correct. If a user can't do that, and won't respond to PM's or mails from other users, they simply shouldn't be maintainer. It's that simple.
So. Contact the user who maintains a locked entry. If no or negative response, contact me or the mods, and we'll remove that user as maintainer. |

I'd like to suggest to make some kind of upload pool that trusted users can access. That way workload can be minimized and every trusted user would get a PM automatically on his next log-on when new screenshots etc have been uploaded to the "pool".
So, in detail, there could be another button to upload a screenshot to the upload pool, maybe with the possibility to add extra info. Uh, I don't know, maybe this is all too much hassle... |

Hiya Perff, although I understand the rules and know a bit on the background why, I would like to point out that it is really really de-motivating to contact someone on each and every single file, then also PMs are not the best messaging system to keep a list of who has responded (its fine for short messages but not optimal) etc. meaning more and more work.
I have transferred hundreds of disks in the last weeks and yet after actively working on updating to csdb every day I have only managed to upload/edit/update under a 100 files, which probably only makes me respect the all-time top 50 list even more.
I do realize that a lot of files are locked due to people being afraid their releases will be deleted or wrongly edited by someone, but leaving empty fields unlocked and removing the delete option on files would be such a big extra and save a lot of time for the few enthusiasts trying to update details.
Last but not least, Groepaz mentioned missing files -> could it atleast not be a good idea to unlock all entries with no files, maybe post this event a month in advance to let people know that it will happen so that we can at least ad files to entries without having to create doubles?
