Closed and empty topic question
After looking at post: Looking for: Angry person from cologne/germany.
I have a serious question (so not only bitching here);
Can someone explain the point of having closed topics that are completely empty except for the post topic?
It's so damn annoying plus confusing at the same time.
I read the topic and see that its closed and get damn curious to why on earth its closed.
Mainly because the post header is intact so I dont get the point of leaving a totally empty post (Id actually understand a total removal better, but maybe there is a good reason for it, hence my question)
And last but not least, playing devils advocate here..
what happens if the topic line itself is highly offensive?
Do you empty the post and leave the topic line intact?

Hi Bordeaux,
I closed it because it was non c64 related and complete
bullshit.
Too bad the topic still stays around, it should actually
be deleted.

Closing a topic and removing its contents seems a bit curious to me. Besides, now I really wanna know why someone is looking for an angry person from Köln! |

Closing topics seems to be today's favorite passtime for certain people. Closing a discussion on a database entry seems rather weird as there may be something new to add to the discussion, or someone wanting to start an entirely new discussion about that entry, especially if it is a scener entry.

Go and read again what I wrote, it was NONE scene related.

Oh, sorry. I should have specified my latter comment didn't have to do with this closure. I was referring to certain other ones instead. |

hi Niels,
fair enough, in the meantime I got informed through PM about the content, I understand your decision to remove it.
Could you as co-sysop (sorry still like to use the old terms.. hehe) however make a request to Perff to have the subject lines removed too in these instances?
IMHO If you guys are trusted in removing text, the same trust obviously applies to just removing everything, right?
I mean, I am certainly not pro-removal, actually I don't like it at all.. but IF the majority here feels the need for guardians, I just want to point out that having those lines remaining actually potentially (depending on content and assumptions) imho does more harm/unintended insinuating then leaving the original post.
I could point out a few examples if needed, pm me if Im a bit blurry in my explanation (sorry, had only 2 hours of sleep today)
Cheers
Tim
