Demo Parts / Effects Anthology

I was looking over some old demo from compunet the other day and it got me wondering. Would it be possible to create a list of demo effects, the they were first done and the coder who created them.

I know in the past, somoe people have released an effect and then someone has 'said' that they had the idea for the same effect before.

anyone think this is possible ?

http://codebase64.org/doku.php?id=base:demo_world_records_and_w..

AFAIK the most 'complete' approach.
Feel free to contribute :)

I thought many times to make an Anthology demo.
It should have all routines, showed in the order they came into reality, ending with the latest 9-sprites, rotzoomers and dycp-splitters :D

1. printscreen demo
2. flashing text colors
..
..
8. sideborder sprites
..
..
12. FLI graphics
..
..

you get the idea....

Longest scroll text(s)
Megastyle: The Great Kloakkman
$1dcbb characters (the scroll states “bytes”) long scrolltext in a single load
Release: 1995

I've always really liked The Great Kloakkman :D
It's one of those demo's that stays in the mind.
The image of the guy reaching for the paper..
The roof top set in the snow (disguises border well)..
Then there's longest Scrolltext, from Scroll.

I was thinking the same thing, but having 2 versions.

The first version would be a faithful reproduction of the original, and then 2nd would be a more modern version.

Or it could be done in stages, so you could have the 80's, the 90's and finally the 00's

I for one would love to see an anthology demo, heck i'd even help organise it if it was gonna happen.

I think the point is:
most stuff of the 80's would still rock in a demo today.
In other words: there is a very small base of demo-coders. Some top-notch artists and then quite some forgotten skills.
Not sure how many could even do a fancy fli-scroll these days. Im serious.

@enthusi: I believe "many" coders can make a fancy fli scroll today but without an improvement, it doesn't make sense and they can get bad criticisms. For example Cruzer has made a "FLI Fluffy" in "You Know The Routine" demo. That's what should be done instead of "yet another FLI scroll".

maybe fli scrolls can still be useful for a party invitro or an on the fly party product like a party scroll etc.

I did a fli scroll in a demo a while ago. No-one was impressed by that part :)
