The only reason I'm interested in the SIDcard is because, unfortunately, people don't put TED tunes in their demos too often, even though you *can* get nice tunes out of it.

Actually... usable tedmusic editor is not available on plus/4 or pc :(
We have Lodplay and TLCplay but there are very hardcore editors. check and regret

Yeah, I think that's too bad that so many Plus4-sceners shun their own hardware.
Hey guys, the Plus4 HAS sound capabilites built in, use them! |

Enlist and buy the new SIDcard for Commodore Plus/4, deadline for the first bunch 17 Sept. 2010 23:30.
No SID chip included.

It isn't actually that hard to write a simple, but yet very flexible player, and a likewise quite simple editor, but yet useable enough. Even though I won't blame anyone for wanting a SID in their machine, I also think that cool things could be made with the TED. I mean... At 1.76 MHz you could even do some nice wave-table synthesis if you wanted to. Mixing two "digi channels" into one of the TED channels, and using the square/noise capabilities of the other channel...
...and even if you stick to square wave and noise (and a lower rastertime consumption), you could do nice things. |

The tragic lack of a good editor/tracker/whatever to compose TED music has been the main deterrent. Moreover, in the early 90ies, the Plus/4 sceners would prefer between using SIDcard or pass a SID tune thru a FRQ conversion (a SID tune played via TED sound)or WAVE conversion (a SID tune played via TED simulationg waveforms with little digi slices, time expensive!).
The "use-native-capabilities" philosophy is somewhat appreciated in recent times. About me, I'm completely agree with you, our recent "Adventures in Time" platform game tried to push TEDsound at its best (haha, best!). |

All examples of nice TED tunes. Especially the first 2.
