"Business sofware" for the C64
I know that CSDb is a scene forum, and is thus not concerned with commercial software like CAD programs, word processors, MIDI sequencers and so forth (unless they were cracked perhaps). Still I wonder if anyone here knows where to find that kind of programs for the C64 on the net? I have the feeling that these programs are not very well preserved in archives. If that is so, I find it kinda sad.
Anyone knows something about this? Where to find such programs on the net etc? |

www.retrogames.co.uk has a few business/education/utility programs on there, though these are ones that you purchase rather than download.

Apps were protected aswell so if they're cracked (and they have for sure to be working) they belong here anyway. |

I am absolutely positive that there is some nut over on Lemon64 that collects these programs. You can ask around there. |

WHY? what is the purpose here... to archive them or use them professionally? I would consider a modern pc for professional work... he he... |

semi-OT but I used GEOS just 1.5 years ago for a gfx-designer friend that needed a pro-looking receipt printed on thermal paper. So I thought hey - that will be so cool to use that okimate 20 again with GEOS. What a freakin' pain. The logo came from PC via PCX and converted INSIDE GEOS and then I pixeld the text for that stupid receipt. Took ages - man gewrite/paint swap like hell...
Now the okimate is connected to pc via parport and XM1541.
Next time I will laserprint it and fax it to me instead ;-)
Ok, where is the point? Well for nostalgic reasons... This year I used PrintShop (Harzilein pointed me to it again) for some giant banner on that endless thermo-paper-roll. Took several hours to print and it hang on in the floor till we moved.
So if any of you feels too sane, just try some of those 'business sw' and things will change... |
