Thanatos original tape dump

I know this is not a request for a scene production, that I should ask on the Lemon forums, etc, etc, but here goes...

I'm looking for a .tap dump of the original 1987 Thanatos version from Durell. The dumps I've found in GB64 and around the net seen to be from later compilations.

Anyone?

Is it a Novaload? They're the only dumps I found, but I'm guessing that's not the one you're after..

No, I don't think it's a Novaload. That's the 1988 Hit-Pak re-release, I think.

Ok, thanks Oldskool. I've found two different Novaload versions (both are labelled "novaload n103910"). The only notable difference is that the music chunk is loaded twice in one, and not in the other. I doubt any of these is the original release.

The reason I'm looking for the original, is that it should have some new (at the time) cartridge protection, possibly written by John (Cyberload) Twiddy. This protection is mentioned in Thanatos, Thanatos and in the note accompanying Thanatos 100%.

The Novaload versions I've seen haven't been protected apart from the Novaload autorun feature.

If there is some interesting form of cartridge/freezer protection (especially written by John Twiddy which means it could target Expert as well) I would be also extremely interested in it.

I think I should have the original in my collection, but it will be some time before I get there; drop me a PM if you don´t get it on another way before.
Cheers,

Bugjam

Thanks, Bugjam. I've posted the same request at the Lemon forums.

The two .tap versions I've found are 574209 bytes (reads music chunk ($c000-$cfff) twice) and 541305 bytes (reads music chunk only once). If anyone has a different version, please let me know.

I'm expecting to receive an original Durell copy of the game shortly. I will have a look so I can let you know.

Interesting, but I assume Cyberload (alone) is not the special protection mentioned above. Cyberload wasn't news to any crackers come 1987. Could be that the original Thanatos was indeed Cyberload protected, yet augmented in some clever way. I realize this contradicts what you stated above, Oldskool. I guess only a dump of a bona fide original Durell tape will tell.

Do you have the German tape in some digital format?
