"Nowadays, everyone you know uses computers for creativity, some of them even being better than you, and most computer-aided creativity falls under some valid competition category at demoparties. Almost any deviantART user could submit their work in an average graphics compo, sometimes even win it. As almost anything can be a "demoscene production", being a "demoscener" is no longer about what your creative methods are like, but whom you hang around with."

Mind you, i'm fine with the release added to csdb - i'm not very anal about that. But regarding this topic, the upper excerpt is very interesting imho.

I was indeed suprised to see all those compo categories like "photograph" at breakpoint 2010.

and i am one of those that would drop the photo compo immediatly, as i fail to see how it is "scene" whatsoever :) IMHO such categories exist because of an desperate attempt to "recrute" new people for the scene so it doesnt die all that quickly (which it does, undenyable). i would kick the mp3 compo too, for a similar reason. because really, you dont become a scener because you know one. and something isnt a scene production because a computer was used in the process. those two things are just another desperate attempt to lie to yourself so you dont have to cope with the fact that the scene is dying.

however, this database is a historically oriented c64 scene archive and if paper art wasnt connected to the c64 scene for a long time, it wouldnt be accepted at all, and probably wouldnt get added either if someone started drawing stuff on paper in 2010 :)

the main problem at this point i think is that this kind of stuff is very much underrepresented here at csdb. there might be more of such "not directly c64 related" drawings, and someone should upload them so questions like the one of the original poster do not arise :)

Read the backside of Art Femina #1 / Hard on You :) I think it is appropriate ;)

Wackee,
You have a really right with These Words:) Is associated with this very strong..

Mace,
Paper-art is part of scene FROM YEARS.
What pisses me off is that many people do not know about it or does not care (because they do not directly apply to the same computer?). And That`s too bad! You ask what links the scene? It's simple:
1. This is done BY the scener
2. This is done FOR the Scene

What it presents is my case. And if someone likes it or not is another question, which I frankly do not care about it.
I wanted to do something nobody has done before, so I made a larger size, but it is still paper-art..
You are talking about a new category of photo and about mp3.. but the category of paper art is for many years already! why can't you understand this? I'm surprised..

I agree that we need more paper art in this database.
There are such gems, Electric 's work (just plain A4 drawings), some amazing stuff done by Rodney in color, just clasically painted...
