#C64coders (IRCNet)
Hey
You are hereby invited to join our C64 coding-related channel: #c64coders on IRCNet. We hope to bring up discussions, talk about demo effects and/or just plain C64 coding routines. Optimization, SID/VIC, 6510-tricks or ideas and so on are our main focus. If you just want a place to hang out and relax you can also join and talk when the channel is alive. We hope you input autojoin on #C64coders in your client if you are a regular IRC-user. We want your support so we can fire up some discussions or plain talk about programming on the C64.
We are now four regulars on the channel, but we are pleased to get more people in, such that the channel gets more active!
Thanks for your time.

Quoting KarmicThe difference is:
- #c64coders is for C64 coders only.
- There are no lamers allowed :)
invites ppl to join public chan, NO LAMERS. yeah, that's how you get people to join a chan. *shrug*
nothing wrong with #c-64. ppl don't like what ppl are talking about there or how things are rollin? gtfo. but it is a great place to go for coding advice. rudi's chan? yeah, nah. no. highly doubt it.
only people that seem to whinge and moan about #c-64 are bitter old queens that have no idea how to use /ignore, never knew how to harden the fuck up and stop being precious little snowflakes. :) |

No Lamers - uses 70s tech to communicate XD uhuh seems legit.
IRC is a pain, and as I put my machine to sleep I then would miss everything said while I was away and then when I log in again, I don't get to see what I "missed". No history that is easy to browse, or even history.
Can't we use something like Slack? I know it is just glorified IRC for the hipsters but it does solve the problems a bit. Has history and file, and images which may or may not be a thing depending on who you are in with, lets you pull threads inline to the conversation allowing you to just peal off in the main stream etc |

Sometimes, _not_ having a backlog of #c-64 is good thing, saves you from seeing all the talk about politics/religion and pictures of penises :) |

missing history is way overrated anyway. i am online 24/7 so i do have history - but hardly ever felt the need to scroll back more than a couple of lines. once you have been there a few times you'll know whats a good time to meet the people you want to meet anyway.
(soci managed to get banned? wow =)) |

That was not very difficult to achieve. I think I've behaved a little lame there back then. No complains, it was deserved ;) |

soci: the channel is brand new, so one has to be a bit patient by the time being, or start a discussion there and wait for someone to respond. so, there is not much code-talk in my irc-log. it was some code-talk early, but then stopped.
hopefully more people will join in, for the chance of coding talk to increase some activity has to be initiated. more coders have to join. we'll see if it can be a steady growing channel in time. it takes time, and so on. |
