Telnet'able BBS'es??
Hey, I just realized - I'm probably kinda slow - that there are a couple of old C64 bbs's I used to call back in my hayday available on the net via telnet. This is ofcourse Antidote and The Hidden, which was a Motiv 8 board back when L.A.Style was a member - the-hidden.hopto.org
I wonder, are there any other boards out there worth checking out (bear in mind, I've been gone for like 7-8 years..) |

See, I prefer UCBBS myself. Maybe that is because the boards I used to frequent the most all ran it. The Forum, TST, Second to None, Tunnel of Warez, just to name a few. For some reason it seemed for a while as if it were only the demo groups or smaller "non-elite" groups that ran with C*Base. I think that is why it has a cheaper look to it for me. |

Duke: yeh I agree, UCBBS was the best, especially the BEST version of it by Pudwerx (used later on Terminal Obsession & The Forum (resurrected versions of the boards anyway)).
Is there a telnet bbs using UCBBS?

Well, The reason why I changed from UCBBS to C*base is simple. I had some naughty trouble with the code. It simply broke down very often, eventhough Pudwerx made a pal version for me. It never got stable as the NTSC version. Crossfire was amazing, working with C*Base, that made me change. I loved the CYBORG MOD, but it wasn`t stable either, sadly.
I miss my DOMINIC, no doubt! :) |

Heh, thanks...I more or less "grew up" with C*Base, I had been calling out for months before I stumbled across UCBBS, which was kinda wierd considering how many bbs's used it, but I guess I just picked out which ones to call first by coincidence..
Jesper, why don't you put it back on telnet then? Would be cool! ;-) |

It would be wonderful to see Dominic back online. In fact, I am shocked to see just how many bbs'es are up and running these days. I think I counted 14. Most of them, I think, are American though.
It is true that I remember hearing about UCBBS crashing quite easily. I never had the privelidge of running a BBS myself, but if I did, and the system crashed on me, I'd switch to C*Base, too.
Question: What was the handle of Tommy, the sysop, of Tunnel of Warez? It's been driving me nuts lately, and I can't seem to find anyone who knows. You should know, Tricket! |

Yes, but he sold the BBS to a local unknown who then kept it going for Dom. All I remember is that his name was Tommy. Really nice guy, but quite naive and clueless about the scene and life in general. People used to rag on him so much, and his response was always to meet him in NYC for a fist fight. ;) But a nice guy, though, if you can look past the violent nature, heh. |
