The C64 is offcially more alive than the Amiga

Seriously. I was looking at a certain well-known cross-platform scene website and Of the "big three" demo platforms, C64 is second in terms of number of productions to the PC. Amiga is a distant third. 8 bits forever!

Quote: that's because (or so I've heard), most amiga coders use UAE anyway...

yes, apparently they code directly on emu, rather on the real thing... which seems a bit odd to me... so I might be wrong.

also, what else would you need except for a texteditor, C(++) skills and a C(++) compiler for 68k?

(well, unless you want to pixel or compose...)

Ahem, so you're saying that no-one uses Vice or crosscompilers when coding c64-stuff? :)

Some good asm-skills are also very useful when coding demos for the Amiga, pure C just doesn't cut it. But yes, a text-editor and a compiler is pretty much all you need to code for the amiga, just like for the C64...

Now I have always fantasized for a console like Commodore 64? Couldn't we make what C65 was not possible, possible now? I mean can't we make a new Commodore, say call it Commodore 64II or Commodore 64+ or something, it will be a brand new sexy Commodore case with the same key set for Commodore 64. It will be 100% backward compatible for C64 without the need of typing "GO64" or such it simply loads C64 like say PS 2 does when it plays PS 1 games. This new Commodore will have cartridge slots for cartridge games like N64 games, also serial port for the good old Commodore disk drive for those C64 games. It will have internal DVD player the OS will be AmigaOS 4.x but the OS will be modified to allow you to play C64 games easily in the AmigaDOS shell command.

It will be a brand new console with abilities to make games like modern console...ahh yeah.

Even finding a simple cross-assembler producing amiga exe file is not as simple as that.
