What's you favorite?
A number of times I've been surprised when listening to tunes that for some or the other reason have been suggested for listening by other users of this forum. I thought that some of you would like to share some of your favourites with the rest of us. It could probably broughten our horizons and at least let people hear some tunes that haven't gotten the attention they disserve. Anyone up for it? |

It's always interesting what other people like to listen to. But this thread has to deserve more than everybody's list of personal favourites.
It would be great if one would add some really personal comments to each song. Something like "I listened to it on the beach in my easter holidays back in 1986 while mixing egg-liqeur with orange-juice which made the whole mood perfect" or "kissed a girl at the bus-stop and whistled the main melody while cycling back home".
Now, i think it's up to me, too....
BTW: International Karate and one of my first own tunes were the ones mentioned above... |

That's a good point, but let's also recommend those less known tunes for each other.
I used to have a lot of Hubbard tunes on tape, MOTR being my favorite. I remember listening to it for hours in the car, when i was on camping with my parents. ;) |

I bet it made your parents really happy.
We used to drive to Austria for skiing, and me and my brother played a tape with those old classics; Commando, Penetrator, William Wobbler, Thing on a Spring.. I guess my parents wasn't to happy about it, but then again my mother played her tape with Dolly Parton & Kenny Rodgers' "Islands in the Stream" which she had as every second tune on that tape... I still know the lyrics of it when hearing it! ;) |

Haha.. Yeah, well!.. I used to sit in the car when we weren't driving (for hours and hours). I don't think I ever was allowed to listen to SIDs while they we in the car. ;) ..
"Dolly and Kenny"?.. My father digs that stuff too, and I don't mind it today, but back then .... ! |

Recording on tape was very popular. I recorded IK via micro 'cause I didn't had the time to solder the proper line-in cable before the holidays. Later everything was recorded. Many friends were unsettled as I had my old Sony-Walkman (boy, that was huge) playing these tapes over and over again.
I had some demos and gameplays recorded on video, too. My parents owned the "superior" but nevertheless dead "VIDEO 2000" System.
Still sorting my "non-popular" favourites.

I still remember the very first time I heard Galway's Ocean-loader music. I had bought Comic Bakery on tape & was amazed when the tune started. Unfortunately the game was loaded before the tune had ended but I found out that I could stop the tape just before the game was loaded to listen to it over & over. I also recorded it on tape on a bad tape recorder using the built-in microphone. Those were the days :) |

I remember hearing Cybernoid and some of Laxity's tunes on my blue walkman when I was 12 and was on a trip to Bornholm (a danish island) - I remember feeling a tad embarresed about it since I knew others thought it sounded weird so I kept a low profile. But I do remember a couple of freaks in my class who did the same so I could share my taste of music with others. Funny I never recorded any of Rob og Galway's stuff I guess I preferred the more emotional leads (IMO) in Jeroen Tel and Laxity's music. |
