photos of computer setups
I have started collecting photos of "8-bit" computer set ups. I think it is fascinating to see the places where all kinds of computer magic happens/happened. I am mostly interested in home settings - rooms from any time and any place. Demoscene relation is good but not necessary, hi-res photos are preferred (with credits), informative texts and and stories is excellent.
Possibly, this is something that would be published aswell.
With a collection like this it is possible to see what was behind all those screen, to contextualize digital works with a physical place. Postdigital, as the theorists say. We wanna see your data office!
Spread the word! If you are interested, or just have some links and input, please post here or e-mail info@goto80.com. Or bring them to LCP! :) Thanks! |

Not gonna take a photo of my setup quite yet as we are rebuilding downstairs and everything looks like hell right now.
My PC with an external soundcard that I used to have my midi keyboard and C-64 connected to went to hell the other day, but found out I could connect the midi keyboard to my iPad instead. Works like a charm and takes a lot less space. Dunno why I didn't think of that before. |

This is my primary (un-emulated) setup for programming the Commodore 64 while enjoying those lovely chiptunes on the Amiga 1200. Both computers outputs S-Video which looks rather nice on modern TFT monitors. |

I'll add a photo of my setup as well. This is from when I just got installed in our new house. It's a "bit" more messy now after some months of use :D.
My beloved A600 is still missing a monitor unfortunately, while my A1200 was found not worthy a space.
And before someone comment on the VHS, lots of old tapes needs to be digitized. Although it also makes a good 1084 rack.

Duly noted.
Somehow I knew that should come up :-) That's just code I'm messing around with to try out kernal functions, since I almost never use them. |

Exactly one year ago Taper/Triad asked me few questions for Attitude zine about my Commodore collection. One year ago I sold everything, but now I'm recovering my collection - almost from scratch.
I call it: "Project Basement" ;) for my personal use.
take a look at pic below or go to http://retronavigator.com for more photos and details. On the blog I describe the whole project of adopting the basement to be my secret Commodore base ;)
Enjoy.
