multispeed
Hello everybody,
Just to be sure: Multispeed means that the SID is updated with new parameters not once per frame/tick but multiple times per frame/tick, right? And this clearly affects the sound? What songs would be good examples of the multispeed-effect? Is "ACE 2" by Rob Hubbard multispeed?
Thanks in advance for any answers! |

...and Ace2 isn't multi-speed.
Well known multi-speed tunes are ZigZag by Anthony Crowther and Rubicon by Jeroen Tel/MoN.

Another good example of multispeed-music is Zig-Zag from Anthony "Ratt" Crowther, the first example of multispeed I heard, and a good one too.

The real innovator must have been Martin Galway, using multispeed in the highscore-tune for Wizball, right?

How many parameters must be updated in order for it to be multispeed? ;) |

And at what distance in (raster-) time? Fred Gray's player does something like
lda #$41
sta $d404
dec $d404
Is that multispeed? ;)

Hagar did multispeed in Rainbow Dragon, by calling the player 2 times after another. |

Sorry, not Hagar, but Anthony Lees offcourse :-)
Michael Winterberg did multispeed-sounding tunes, by using cia timer.
The first multispeed tune i ever heard was /Crowther_Antony/Centurions_Power_X_Treme.sid - it came before Zig Zag. |

@uneksija:
Here's some of my own multispeed tunes...
(I hope that is ok, without people thinking that I'm a smart-ass who just wants to show off, but I think there are atleast some decent multispeed soundexamples in some of these tunes).

Fine with me Jeff, no need to argue your expertise in multispeed composing. 8th Frame is still awesome, everytime I play that to people who are not into it they say something like "bah, digi samples!" :-)
Another good example of multispeed is /VARIOUS/S-Z/Taki/Impulse.sid (16x)
This drumset is simply amazing! |
