Best Format to distribute demos etc?
I've recently retrieved my C64 (and 300+ floppies from the loft) and have found a whole load of music, demos etc from 1988 - 1992 that I'm sure people would be interested in.
So, not that I've got my hands on a XM1541 cable and can transfer all this stuff to the PC, what are everyone's preferences for the way to distribute this stuff?
Obviously if it's a multi-part demo, then it's obvious that you just use a .d64 disk image...
But what about small stand alone files... music with players etc? Just distribute the .prg or what?
Any advice would be appreciated!

If i can get them unsorted it would also be good. Just as Jazzcat says, you never know where you stumble upon. I also would like to see any disknotes done by swappers, don't know if there are more people who want those. |

How anyone can think that gzip is hard to use is beyond me, but for those who can't figure it out, all you need to do is:
cd c:\c64\demos (or wherever)
gzip *.d64
And all your d64s will be gzipped. You can then drag & drop them on VICE just like usual.

For reasons I'm not willing to discuss here, I prefer normal zip. Yes, I know how to use gzip, I've been using it many times before, but I prefer normal zip. That okay with you? |

Come on, we've all used a c64 as our main computer! How can anyone here have issues with a command-line? :)

Well,I got quite a bunch of those.
Would you like to have them collected together?
I know there are some on the cracks I have uploaded already.
Unfortunately I don´t think it is possible for you to see what I have uploaded. |

I never used command line on c64, only GUI. |

Ofcourse it's ok, but if possible I'd like to hear your point. When I upload here I gzip it. If there is a good reason I'll change my approach. :)
My main issue with .zip is that it doesn't work in VICE without unpacking it first. If that worked, I'd probably go for zip aswell. |
