Gamelamers about the demoscene
I just had to share this with you =)
From http://www.protocol42.com/ :
"
What's the news? Well, first off, I'd like to welcome Legalize as a co-conspirator of the Annual September Protocol 42 LAN party! Who is Legalize? He's just this guy, ya know? (some of you will get that)
Legalize runs an event called a "Demoscene", and I'm sure most all of you gamers have used and keygen or some sort of exe patching tool that had a cool little gui and some built in music.
Well, that's a "demo" in this respect. People involved in the demo scene have competitions to make an entire 3D playable game with multiple levels and interaction under certain critieria, for example, the size limit would be 96 KB. There are a large number of these sorts of "demos" available, (here's one... http://www.theprodukkt.com/kkrieger.html ). So in a nut shell, that is what the demoscene is about, pushing the limits of music, programming and graphics! Find out more about Pilgrimage here --> http://pilgrimage.scene.org/2006/index.html

TMR, your 4k demo in the old driven compo rocked, so I may just have to concur with that, but we do still have some damn fine coders over here. (just no gfx or music people)

Thanx in advance
Christian you are a nutter lol :)
I went to go give you a sympathy vote for coder but you're not listed for such.
I did see a perfect score of 1's though. Ouch! :(

All I have is a 10" penis! And I can also predict topic lockings. Does that counts here? |

I for one, think that this, if handled properly, could be a good thing that might convert a few gamerlamers into real sceners. Modern PC demo making tools can be EXTREMELY sophisticated and can produce demos that look as good as real coded demos. Even well-repected PC demogroups like farbrausch work primarilly with demomaking tools (actually they WROTE the most advanced, sophisticated one) Of course, real democoders can still code by hand either from scratch or to make plugins to enable more advanced effects than otherwise possible in the various demomakers.
