FaceBook

Myspace had its day, and now it seems to be facebook's turn. I was wondering how many people are actually on there?.

i'm here : http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=731207638

if anyone want to add me, just leave a message with your "scene name".

i've also noticed lots of c64 related groups on there but no c64 applications?, who knows maybe if some of us join some one will create a c64 application even if its only a little sidplayer jukebox sort of thing.

Quote: I agree with facebook critics (about the noise, waste of time, the privacy concerns and that stuff), but as a web developer myself I must admit that it has neat way of handling posting of stuff and sharing, so, since April 1st 2011 www.c64.sk took over a small piece of land at Facebook realms > http://www.facebook.com/c64news

Why not spend a couple of minutes adding a long overdue RSS feed to c64.sk instead?

OMG... Facebook got the big brother award 2010/11 in category "communication"... (beside Apple ^^)
There's a nice article for the german ones... https://www.bigbrotherawards.de/2011/.comm1/

well, have fun in your "gated community"... :D

@Marauder: the Big Brother Awards are always a nice read, but the Facebook article sounds a bit too paranoid to me. I mean people put their information in every community or homepage. And of course those informations are scanned too for commercial interests. No big deal that Fb does it as well. They just do it bigger and more successful.

I think the article fits quite well and doesn't sound too paranoid to me... maybe not today, but sure in future when this would be the only (or most) way to communicate...
and you even get more and more tracked by all those other websites you visit as well, even if you're not logged into FB (all those pages with the like-buttons and stuff)...
and yes, most people do post a lot of information on those communities, not knowing the consequences... but nothing is for free! (c;

and like Mark Zuckerberg said about: „They trust me – dumb fucks.“ hehe :D

Well, maybe I'm too old and this is a thing for the Facebook-generation... ;D

I don't really get into Facebook too much myself. My wife is the one that constantly nagged at me to reactivate my account. The 2 or 3 weeks It was deactivated........was bliss

So I felt this time around, I might as well make it interesting and started up a group, and made a "page".

I'll never use twitter because when you tweet, it makes you a twit... No offense to those that use it, but it's true.

I really don't like Facebook either, but how else can one keep the wife quite?

Nonsense, the hype about Facebook will pass by like any other and people will turn to other new "amazing" things.
And e-mail (I mean REAL ones with monkey tail) will never cease.

Look at eBay, it's quite out nowadays. Anybody remembers Napster, Netscape or those 2.0 interactive 3D worlds? Nobody cares two hoots about them in 2011.

And if people are that stupid to give their e-mail passwords to other companies, they are hopeless cases anyhow, sorry.

you might think it's nonsense, but we'll talk again in 5 or 10 years... then we'll see, hehe (c;
