photos of computer setups
I have started collecting photos of "8-bit" computer set ups. I think it is fascinating to see the places where all kinds of computer magic happens/happened. I am mostly interested in home settings - rooms from any time and any place. Demoscene relation is good but not necessary, hi-res photos are preferred (with credits), informative texts and and stories is excellent.
Possibly, this is something that would be published aswell.
With a collection like this it is possible to see what was behind all those screen, to contextualize digital works with a physical place. Postdigital, as the theorists say. We wanna see your data office!
Spread the word! If you are interested, or just have some links and input, please post here or e-mail info@goto80.com. Or bring them to LCP! :) Thanks! |

Hey Laxity,
Could you check your PMs?
I posted something about making some polka :) |

Man, don't trust too much on that wallmounted foam considering reducing beating noise leek, though :)
I can't see the construction of yoou room, but unless it has super-thick walls, 'room in the room' structure or multilayer sound sealing windows - the shitfoam will probably just make all of that fight stuff sounding pretty nice, reflexion-free, balanced with pleasant treble frequencies INSIDE the room I assume. Probably, noise will bleed much outside ;)
With distant neighbours, that can't be an issue at all :D
Hi Necropolo. I know everything about studioshit, you don't have to tell me. If you didn't get it, the Lax thing was a joke. Haha! ;) |

I know you know, I was joking, too :)
Yep I got your joke on Laxity, too! I'd agree on closing him in and forcing him to make some kick-ass music :)

Yep, I will. The only thing Lax needs is time off from his work and family, a dozens packs of cigarettes and coffee. Maybe some food in between. ;) |

I wish I could offer a photo of my old days... I had my own table in the living room, a c64-II and a 1541-II in front of a *gigantic* Grundig CRT TV (with faulty colours and moire-ing like crazy, but still, as a 12-year-old there was no complaining). Next to it, neatly stacked: 64'er magazines, complete collection from 07/88 to (eventually) 05/94; c64 game boxes, all sorts; demo/utility disks I mail ordered from Binary Zone and other sources. And of course, a pair of unbeatable Competition Pros.
Those were the times... unfortunately, the only photo left of that setup is a very blurry shot where you can barely make out the Grundig and nothing of the rest :). My parents were mainly interested in me, staring at the TV like a zombie while watching (and listening to) the Turbo Outrun intro.
It's all a bit more streamlined nowadays, and my gaming rigs setup next to the ole' mainframe'n'laptop ain't lying...
