What's you favorite?

A number of times I've been surprised when listening to tunes that for some or the other reason have been suggested for listening by other users of this forum. I thought that some of you would like to share some of your favourites with the rest of us. It could probably broughten our horizons and at least let people hear some tunes that haven't gotten the attention they disserve. Anyone up for it?

Quote: SID-funk... Who started it & when? Was it a natural progression that really sprung to life with JCH & his switch-tempo-thingy* making shuffle so much easier to use?

* Can't recall what it was called in the editor since I haven't used it much.

The term "funk speed" is a little lame, but I know what you mean. I call it "crack speed" which is almost as lame, but referes to the number of frames per. tick being changable per tick (?!?). It's a nice feature when applied with care, but the tune won't be more "funky" because of it.

Here are some of my mature all time favourites. Hm, they aren't really non-mainstream. But anyway, who cares...

/Winterberg_Michael/AFL_Intro.sid - So simple but at that time so far ahead
/Baldwin_Neil/Future_Shock.sid - I think we aborded sun tanning just to listen to it
/Whittaker_David/Lazy_Jones.sid - Played the game with tons of friends
/Tel_Jeroen/Eliminator.sid (1) - Let the sun in
/Tel_Jeroen/Noisy_Pillars.sid (1) - This one inspired me alot
/Tel_Jeroen/Thats_the_Way_It_Is_main.sid - Pure summertime mood
/Klaewer_Oliver/Zero_Gravity.sid - Especially the beginning
/Yip/Scroll_Machine.sid - Bombastic demo that time
/Huelsbeck_Chris/R-Type.sid - Mach 3
/Daglish_Ben/Bombo.sid - I simply like it
/Crowther_Antony/Suicide_Express.sid - First melody in a C64 game that impressed me or was it..
/GAMES/M-R/M_U_L_E.sid - Roy Glover????

Knatter made a lot tunes I still like to listen to.

As for the more modern tunes I like a lot of Dane (but who doesn't, eh?), especially:
\VARIOUS\M-R\Mitch_and_Dane\Dane\Loretta.sid - Form follows function (ie. technically brilliant and extravaganza)

And yes, Drax. Hysteria (Song 3) rocks!!! I remember a Wanderer demo in which this was the loading music.

Hm, for people like me who lacks the "drive", it was a good improvement in funkyness, at least I thought it would do 8-.

ftp://ftp.ludd.luth.se/pub/c64/music/sidplay/HVSids/Future_Frea..
ftp://ftp.ludd.luth.se/pub/c64/music/sidplay/HVSids/Future_Frea..

I'm quite fond of the wildness in Fred's compositions.. They are almost all hysterical somehow!
