Was it a Reloaded c64 running the compo? That explains why our demo crashed as well, it never did that.

I have a Reloaded mobo sitting in a box.. Just saw one of those first versions going for 800€ on eBay. Maybe I'll just keep that in a box as a retirement plan, and run the demos on a VSP stable original C64!

there is no 100% VSP stable C64 in the first place (since the behaviour varies with temperature, for instance) :)

- The parking situation: the parking lot was full, even the side of the road was totally crowded. I ended up parking somewhere in Belgium

- The toilets: Things were fine on friday, but everything got worse after the compos. Some guys probably tried to imitate the movements of Bob's bobs while peeing, but that's just a theory

- The nightly snoring compos: While there were quite a few impressive basses I began to hear ring modulations after a while (probably due to lack of sleep). I felt pretty holgered the day after and I didn't even touch any alcohol by then

wrong. you can say: we do not know if there is a 100% vsp-safe c-64. a c64 that never crashed due vsp since 100.000 hours MAY crash in the next hour.

thats all.

and its known that the 64 reloaded is not vsp-safe:

Aand by that, we get back to bitching: Somebody looked at the compo c64 wrong while our demo was running. Or maybe laid a long, warm breath on it and caused a crash.

My Siesta logo caused a facepalm+breath = crash, while Carrion's pic on the Hitmen demo caused 2x long breaths of amazement = 2x crashes.

Solution: Don't breath the next time, or if you have to, go to the next room!

the result is the same. no matter how much you test for it, it does in no way tell you that it will not crash.

not exactly - whats known is that the VSP fix does not work reliable when using the 8565 VIC, it does work when using 6569. other than that its as good (or bad) than any other C64 regarding VSP.

the result may be the same but there is a difference: c64s that never crashed with vsp since their first power on have higher chances not to crash in the future, than c64 models that have been crashed in the past.
and yes, the 64 reloaded as it was sold does have huge problems with vsp as mentioned in the forum. you need to get another vic to solve the problem or wait for the "new" mainboard from jens.

not really - you might read up on how randomness actually works and what parameters affect the behaviour in this case. its not that simple.

nope, it doesnt have more problems than any other C64 - and there also exist 8565 equipped ones that are "stable" (as much as you can say that). if you want to be 100% sure the VSP fix works - something you cant be sure of with a regular c64 - THEN you need old VIC. no more no less.
