Oh shit... my soul will fry in hell for that! :-o
No seriously, all I wanted to point out is that you don't need to be a rocket scientist to get programs to run in Vice. ;-)

That's a pity. Otherwise people would stick to real C64s.

Ok, I'll file a request for some userunfriendly features to the VICE team immediately! :-)

I did spend a fair bit of time trying to get the demo going with no luck - I managed to get some of the other one's going with no probs (other than the emulator having fag on some of them)...

The Dutch Breeze demo I downloaded from here consisted of the following philez:

1!Dutch_Breeze.BML.Side_1
1!Dutch_Breeze.BML.Side_2
2!Dutch_Breeze.BML.Side_1
2!Dutch_Breeze.BML.Side_2
3!Dutch_Breeze.BML.Side_1
3!Dutch_Breeze.BML.Side_2
4!Dutch_Breeze.BML.Side_1
4!Dutch_Breeze.BML.Side_2

I tried renaming them to .d64, .p00 etc with no luck...

The error I keep getting is an error window consisting of "VICE Error! - Cannot attach specified file"

Hence the question of whether or not the philez require some kind of conversion to a format VICE understands or I am still lazy as Steppe says even though I have RTFM - perhaps I'm missing something!

Yes you need to convert those files to d64. You can do that with starzip.

But i would recommend you download the d64-files directly from www.c64.ch instead.

Btw, demodungeon.com also offers demos in .d64 format :-)

Is it just my version of Vice that is special, or?
When I attach a file named 1!<something> and the rest (2!.. 3!.. and 4!.. files) are present in the same dir, it works fine - just as if I were attaching a d64.

Can't remember which version of Vice I use, but it's a rather new one.

BTW: Does anyone know some good c64-file convertion programs for linux? (Havn't really checked myself :) )

I tried it here on WinVice 1.12 and it doesn't work. Which version and OS are you using? Click HELP->About to get the version number.

I use Linux and Vice 1.11

I simply attach the file 1!... and it recognice it as a D64.

A little dump from Vice:
--
Filesystem Image Probe: D64 disk image recognised: 1!Graphixmania_2.Modern_Arts, 35 tracks (read only).
DriveImage: Unit 8: D64 disk image attached: 1!Graphixmania_2.Modern_Arts.
--

A completly other thing:
Is everyone running windows out there?
Almost all tools and whatever only comes to win, like Cyber Crunch and Star Commander.
I always thought that people who knew about computers, here asuming that c64 people fall under this category, tried to avoid that crappy OS called windows. :)
