Old BreadBox doesn't work with U1541
Hello everybody here.
I have a serious problem because my compo-machine for Riverwash 2014 (with old sid) doesn't want to collaborate with U1541.
So generaly I have U1541-II with software 2.6j and it works fine with my C64C and it works also fine with C128 (PHI time change is required but it's normal).
I have one C64 made in Germany, breadbox edition (old sid). This C64 works fine with Action Replay 7.x and standard floppy drives but it doesn't work with U1541. The problem is, when I choose a file to execute from U1451 menu, the blue screen appears, and I can see 'mounting' comunicate, but this is all, the C64 stops.
Maybe you have any idea where shall I start my investigation to run up the old C64 again on the track, please help. |

which is a shame really. at least for trackmo that should be a must. i'd hate to see a 1541u menu popping up for diskchange in my demo during compo. (which wont work anyway as soon as some advanced raster/nmi setup is used in the turn disk part) |

nothing to do with that really, as said, it simply wont work in many cases anyway - so you NEED a real setup anyway if you want to be properly prepared. |

remember two years ago how the chameleon change disk with coma light 13 didn't work and peiseluli was short before going bananas? :)
So, basically what groepaz sez about competition machine/REAL drive.
However, working U is a great piece of hardware, so good luck with fixing your problems with 1541U anyway |

I totally agree that orgs should have always real drive as a lifesaver, but U1541 is imho the best primary option these days :) |

they used 1541U at X :) however that wasnt the problem... someone inserted the wrong disk into the real drive and it crashed (of course) =) |

I ran the Datastorm compo on my 1541U2, but used two C64s - one dedicated to selecting disks, and the IEC cable connected to the other C64 which ran the actual demo. Worked splendidly, and you need two machines for the music compo anyway. |

Hopefully after the next beta of the chameleon update, chameleon can be used instead of 1541u in compos :-) No need to freeze, flip disks via button |

Or Kisiel's UK1541 which uses buttons and an external display. |

Yeah, his piece of hardware might turn out a bestseller, especially that it's supposed to be really affordable. |
