straight from YOUR playlist

if you encounter a piece of sound so great you want to hang yourself for not being able to write something of similar quality...
if you think you've just found the best music ever made...
if you think a certain song/tune/symphony contains some unusually awesome elements...
...and you want to share it with other c64 composers and not necessarily via your facebook wall, just do it here.
explanations, reviews and so on warmly welcome.
one link per day max.
have fun.

Quote: @jssr67: I agree. That's a nice song from a very nice album.
Watch out for pick tapping by Hackett at 2:36.

Todays featured song from me:

Yukihiro Takahashi, one of the pioneers of synthpop. As catchy and intelligent as the Beatles in their prime.

hey, perhaps quantity dropped a little, but the quality makes up for that :)
that madrugada tune reminds me of shriekback's 'underwaterboys' a little...

particularly recommended: 'it stays' and 'so glad'.
probably the best contemporary songwriter i know (most unknown for sure). the amount of great chord changes and melodic turns in his compositions is killing me :'|
did i mention that besides singing, he plays all instruments on all of his songs - saxophone, guitar, keyboards, bass, drums?
rather mindblowing.

Shriekback had way less dynamics in their song, but sure there are similarities.

Todays song:

I'll post the norwegian music as nobody else will ;)

This is a band called Kaizers Orchestra who just released their new album a month ago or so. This single is called "En for orgelet, en for meg" (one for the organ, one for me).

There's even a version for the german market with german rap by some dude called Prinz Pi. Not that fond of this version, probably because I don't understand jack shit:

Actually there's a dutch and a swedish (with Timbuktu) version too, but haven't got a link for any of them.

reactivation \o/

a dutch producer had teamed up with a pair of american vocalists and recorded this instant classic.
i used to sing this happily during soundchecks - until i was told to STOP KURWA.

an interesting (imho) band i discovered a while ago... not your usual hip hop stuff (although the roots are there):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9rbFIqAtn8 (love the beat in this one)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr-dDkrljDU (totally not what you'd expect from a hip hop band)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP2Hh4C6BTc (lyrics are eternal truth)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxfENWBAVMM (rock?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPU0-NSGctc ("hip hop sucks!")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtuNBo-d-3U (punk?)

unfortunately their lyrics play a significant role - and they are in german. (and yes i have become a fanboy =P)
