Why do not release your demo at the Vision-Party and win some nice prices? ;-)
Have a look at http://www.vision64.de.vu

That would be good, although it will not be ready in time for that party. |

It`s moved on alittle bit ;)
The coder of the flooder part had the idea of adding a second picture. So, a second picture was drawn... more code created... then put on hold as per usual .zZ /WEC :) |

Release at Vision '04 if it's ready, they actually send the prizes out if you don't go to the party! [points to box of stuff that Presets won =-] |

*if* is a pretty big word ;) - what appears to be a simple`ish task is prooving to be somewhat impossible. When i see a finished demo like the recent Cycle/BD - it lets me know just how much get up & go some scenrs have :) |

here`s alittle ZERO`s and ONE`s update... good news is, the demo will still be called ZERO`s and ONE`s :)
The story so far:
'Menu/Part selector'
The bitmap picture is done, and little speach bubbles drawn.
We`re still looking for a tune (something laid back, for a Cafe atmosphere). Code is not done as the idea is to code this menu part last :)
'Return of the Living Dead'
This part is 100% coded. Graphics (SHE2) by WEC, Code by WHW Design and Music by Tim Follin
'Sleeping'
This part features 2 pictures (opposed to the original one) and 2 text screens. The music is in there and the flooding is happening. There`s afew bugs WHW Design needs to fix.
`Mona Lisa`
Graphics by WEC, 4Bit tune by WEC, Code by WHW Design
100% coded :)
'Andromeda'
SHIF picture by WEC, 1x1 interlaced font by WEC, Music by ?/WOW and Code by Crossbow/Crest (features a cool full screen all borders wipe on by Crossbow)
'Shoot Out'
IFLI picture by WEC (WEC`s last IFLI), music by ?/WOW and code by Crossbow/Crest
'The Nightrain'
Hires Bitmap + Overlaid sprites by WEC, music by Syndrom/Crest+TIA and Code by WHW Design and Fixed by Crossbow/Crest
'The End'
Hires graphics drawn by WEC, 4bit sample by WEC. Still requires a tune (something cool and laid back maybe). Still requires coding.
`Hidden Part`
100% coded. This part rocks, it`s almost too good to be a hidden part :)
/WEC :) |

And how many years will it really take for this demo?

well in the hands of the right coder i think it could be finished off within 1 week :) - i`ve sort of given up on the original coder WHW Desgin as he simply has too many other things on. So i`m working on finding a new coder to finish the job off /WEC :) |

"Comming soon..."
heh, guess I was being a little over ambitious with my thoughts :)
Here's a small update on *Zeros & Ones*.
The last time I emailed WHW Design (the original coder) regarding Zeros & Ones I recieved a somewhat bizarre reply. Maybe he was stressed out or something. He wanted nothing more to do with Zeros & Ones, or me. Oh well, that's life.
The good news is, Crossbow coded two parts and fixed one of WHW Design's parts. That was about 3 years ago now.
The great news is, a new coder (not so new to the C64 scene ;) took over Zeros & Ones some time ago. So far he has coded the Turn Disk part which is pretty damn good. The Turn Disk part was the last thing to be designed for Zeros & Ones, and has thet modern look to it. Due to the new coders commitments to his own groups projects, Zeros & Ones will be finished off as and when.
Zeros & Ones is kinda old school in its approach, as it is to feature a menu select part (no trakmo). An already there is a demo version of the menu. Some cool news, Drax has offered to create some music for the part selector, so I'm looking forward to hearing what he comes up with.

Celebrating diversity.
The Hungarian version goes like: "you shall not drink in advance for the bear's coat". It means that the we prefer the beer over the bear! |

The Saying: DON'T COUNT YOUR CHICKENS BEFORE THEY ARE HATCHED.
Who Said It: Aesop
When: c. 570 B.C.
The Story behind It: This saying occurs in the fable "The Milkmaid and Her Pail." Patty, a farmer's daughter, is daydreaming as she walks to town with a pail of milk balanced on her head. Her thoughts: "The milk in this pail will provide me with cream, which I will make into butter, which I will sell in the market, and buy a dozen eggs, which will hatch into chickens, which will lay more eggs, and soon I shall have a large poultry yard. I'll sell some of the fowls and buy myself a handsome new gown and go to the fair, and when the young fellows try to make love to me, I'll toss my head and pass them by." At that moment, Patty tossed her head and lost the pailful of milk. Her mother admonished, "Do not count your chickens before they are hatched."

Hehe, interesting offtopic. In Polish we say: Don't praise the day before sunset.
I like RTN of the Living Dead part because of music (Whittaker style a little bit) and great graphic.
Green Loader it's awesome. It's really inspiring for making some moody-style horror-like game or demo. I'm working on game concept ;).
Even flipping disk is nice :).
I love it.

The phrase about not praising the day before the evening is also used in German. |
