"C64 classix Gold II" CD by Magnussoft

i thought i'd share this, just for the curious people.... if you want to know how much the producers of this (commercial) CD appearently know (or care) about copyright, just have a look at the list of games on it and draw your own conclusions: http://rapidshare.com/files/43100508/games.rar.html

Thats one of the biggest problems about the collections. Most of them are made out of net dusting the net.

Often we see they take parts from a few sites, or just rename a known collection. The Unicorn/CD-96 etc. is a wellknown example.

Worst is when things are renamed from the original filename or spread as prg-files then it makes it almost impossible to make an accurate preservation. The last thing here is a good reminder that people shouldnt upload prg-files anywhere.

there is a big difference between stuff that is released to the scene, and stuff that is exploited commercially, imho.

Out of topic a bit, but still;

The very same problem regarding namingstandard is something I see daily here on CSDB. Ppl putting gamename without releasegroup as name is rather stupid, especially if you do have 30 versions of the very same game :)

But yes - ppl selling all this junk they download from the net oughta be shot - this was the very first reason I was kicked off Lemon; For pointing out that banners with idiots selling D64 CDs oughta be shot. Wow!

:)

...oh no... I'm one of those guys... :-( I really thought that they are "legal", but I never take a look at the programms. I just bought them (cheap - Eur 5,-- per CD), never opened them and just put them into my CD-collection (and was happy to have some LEGAL CD's)...

But there are some more CD's... Classix, Classix II, Classix Gold, Gold II, etc. / is there the same about the copyright..?

its hillarious when crackers suddenly start to worry about copyrights, when its about their work. and no there's no difference, you violate it wether you ask money wether not.

you missed the point. its not about worrying about copyright at all. (and nots not exactly only about cracks either)

yadayada.... zzzZZZ, for ME the point is exactly about a cracker (you) crying out loud (even opening a topic) because someone doesnt care (or know) about copyrights. and I find that hillarious.

I saw the list at c64-wiki.de and surprised to see "Snow Run" and "Mini Bomber" on the list.
