imho these are (admittedly very simple) demos. same for music-rips.

I personally would file them under crack, as they were extracted from (mostly commercial) games.

lol? you realize that makes half of the demos released in 80s "cracks"? lots of them are hardly more than a ripped picture and some ripped tune =P

Bending logic... your idea would make every crack of a game with a stand-alone picture file also a demo...

come on:

only pic, nothing else = pic
pic + added code (music or otherwise) = demo

then it all adds up with old music screens with gamecracks, that has pic+music (ripped music), added to gamepic by cracker.

music rip demo = demo

its how it was and still is.

i think

nonsense. a cracked game is a crack and a standalone picture file is a simple demo. it IS that simple really. flagging picture rips as crack makes no sense no matter what.

Of course it's nonsense. It's your logic, you just don't get it.

though I already regret interfering with such a pointless debate: do mere gfx rips (without ANYthing besides the ripped data and some display code) need to be conserved at all just to prove what some guy knew back then about RAM or about his cartridge? Rather uninteresting imho unless at least STH was done with the RIP afterwards (changed pixels, tag, whatever)

if "rather uninteresting" would be a reason, a lot of cracks could also be safely deleted =)

I would flag them as "Graphics".

A quick search for all "Misc."-releases gave me mostly notes, small messages, game docs, lotsa simple stuff and some weird stuff :-) ...but not many picture-rips.

And also, if the file has music from the same game, I would still go for "Graphics".

to the guys who just dont wasnt there from the beginnning of time and dont know:
who ever that is in here: please:::

before you was born a demo was a pic ripped from the game, with the ripped music on the pic also, and perhaps a signature who ripped it all and made the demo, written discretely on the pic itself.

that was a demo.
and always will be.

you cant change history.

grow up, and stop this futile garbage please :)

rough i dont want to be unfriends again, now that we got friends.

its about that, demos at the old days, simply was what they were.

a simple pic and no answer who did it, is a pic.

a pic with some code to play music , scroll or signature of ripper og coder on pic, was and is also a demo.

it was what peple was able to make in 1983-1985, so lets please not start chagingn stuff in csdb, thats history.

it violates all old demos, many of them.
you cant rape the past and call those music rips a pic.

thats rrape murder and kill them to flags it as pic.

now the demos dissappear into pic..
now some of our first demos are suddenly only a pic ?

i wont and i will never allow this, not to my group or any other old old groups that was in 1985 and before me when we started.

then i go ballistic! :)

understand it now ?

ok

no unfriends, we alreyad agreed and a agree is a agree, long ago, story ended.

no worries..

yes you can, code a pic ripper, to scan a any game file for pic, and for setupcode. you can do it, just go do it!

then run it on all games, and wap, ripped and bang, all of them in 1 go.

make a pc prog to do that. :)
