Event id #3078 : Was that Rob Hubbard? Compo 2021
It's "Sound like Rob Hubbard" compo time.
AKA - The sounds like a good idea at the time after a few beers if not I'll delete it compo...
Let's use those old Hubbard sounds from the 80s.
Chirps and cheeps and some Crazy Comets slides too?
Make a SID tune.
Minimum length 1:00.
Must be based on the style of Hubbards sounds pre 1988. No digi.
No covers or remixes of original Hubbard tunes.
Deadline 10 September 2021.
Who can convince us that it is "the lost Hubbard tune" nobody has heard until now?
Have fun! |

Sorry to be the one who is not excited for this competition. There's the Follin tribute with not much entries and now again, another 80s stuff? I would be more happy for an original compo where some never heard (or never tried) sound comes out of the SID. You know, the 80s was great but 30+ years has passed and there's still some juice in the SID. Why make another "sound like XY" if you could do more than that?
(btw, SID Factory 2 has a Hubbard driver, perfect fit for this compo) |

You're free to not compete and you know what, make (another) compo with different rules, so more people with different preferences gets involved, and I can gather more tunes for next HVSC update. Win Win. ;) |

Yupp, I'm doing my own stuff with the monthly challenge already :) Looks like it's not interesting enough to get people out of their comfort zone. Anyway, I'm not complaining just telling you my opinion. |

Quoting Chris WemyssNo covers or remixes of original Hubbard tunes.
May it be heavily inspired by other music in the way Hubbard did himself, e.g Zoids?
May it be done in his player? |

Of course it may be heavily inspired by Hubbard's tunes. After all, Hubbard was heavily inspired by other works.
And feel free to use his player. There's also the Hubbard driver in Sid Factory II and Rob Tracker too.
I'd be very interested to hear what can be done with Rob Tracker as I've only heard the included demo tunes so far. |
