Release id #218266 : Robotron 2064 Preview
From the developer of the game, posted on Facebook. Shared here without comment:-
“I should have known better than to appeal to the human nature of 'cracking' groups! Having politely requested that none of the projects I released yesterday be turned into 'previews' for their pathetic league tables that for some reason give meaning to their empty lives, Cosmic Guerilla and Robotron 2064 are both up on CSDB already. I should warn you that these are both nowhere near finished, extremely buggy and not worth your time.
I also said that these projects would be abandoned if they were uploaded to CSDB, regardless of whether I decide to return to C64 coding, so you can thank the geniuses at Excess for that.” |

I find it pretty hard to sympathize with the author here to be honest. The release of these "cracks" on csdb was inevitable and his decision to "punish" those who actually _would_ care about these projects being completed, is quite baffling to me. In Norwegian we have an expression "Å rette baker for smed" which seems apt to the situation. |

I bet all these people whining about cracks of their programs also have all the GB64, TOSEC collections and so on, not counting also downloading cracks here and everywhere. |

I'm with Stone and iAN here.
To me that jazz reads like a lazy gamer developer's quite lame excuse for not finishing a project he was about to dump anyway (or worse: someone with severe Divaness issues/megalomania).
Though I'm neither a preview gourmet nor a charts worshipper (quite the opposite) that attitude of
"ok, I release work-in-progress, but if anyone dares to introlink it, I will never finish my work, mankind does not deserve it anymore then" (what did he really expect? )
is just pathetic or hilarious and makes no sense at all. And I can understand some crackers might even see that as an invitation/provocation to do exactly what the dude forbade, crackers crack... foreseeable, case closed, not much to see here. |

Still: When Enthusi politely asked all cracker groups in 2015 to keep their hands off Caren and the Tangled Tentacles, all groups were fine with that. Just being the Devils advocate here. I have no opinions in this case, more that the releases are meaningless as they add nothing but size. |

If that caren release had a public download and didnt require to pay for the kickstarter - someone would have linked their intro. you can bet on that :) |
