Release id #234412 : A New Intro

It is the inital version of Elite Intro - releases should be merged? How to do this?

I don't agree. The new upload is an original release and has credits in the scroll and is not from a crack. The crack intro entry is not the original and therefore has type "crack intro" while the other entry is just an intro release.

Why should we delete original releases?

Please undo the delete.

@Didi, please don't change intro release type to "crack intro" when it is the original intro.

But it is a crack intro, even If it’s released separated, and we have merged them like this a thousand times.

The credits are the same, they only differ in text inside, the file download is in the same entry, it's preserved, don't worry.
There's no point in having 2 entries for the same thing, and a different text doesn't qualify for a new entry, else we should have an entry for every time the same intro gets used with different text, logo or music. It would be impratical and of no use.
Once used even only once in a crack, it's changed to crack intro, nothing wrong with that.

Crackintros on CSDb is a special case on CSDb. We have thousands of ripped crack intros here, which in itself is a bit strange, but it helps us interconnect intros and releases, and when I sometimes find separate releases of an already ripped intro, I add that to the downloads of the already existing entry.

ok, clear. The original intro is now preserved, so that's important.

What's to be done when, say, the linker in a group had a habit of uglying up your intro and there are a dozen versions of it floating around? Is there an official way to preserve the author's original design and intent?

as i already talked to theryk about: it would really help if we could somehow connect each derivative of a release to a master release, sort of like they do on discogs. but, i know, this is csdb: we all must wish much much stronger.

What ws suggests is worth thinking about, but would indeed mean some reformation of CSDb.

However, I don't see what's the problem here, Six.
The normal way is an entry for the intro (and in this entry you can link it to cracks), this can either be
a) an official single release (if there exists any) OR
b) a ripped version
Within this crack intro entry it's not forbidden to upload various versions, e.g. color schemes.
Once there's significant difference, e.g. different logos/fonts, the normal way is having another crack intro entry., e.g.
Eagle Soft Incorporated Intro (Eagle 2x1)
Eagle Soft Incorporated Intro (Eagle 1x1)

If your linker messed up your intro, this should be added in the Goofs of the crack entry in question imho.
