Fun fact: I know more people who fought the law - and lost - in the late 80s till mid 90s because of VHS copyright infringement (-> police raid) than because of home computer games cracks :) |

Which reminds me. For me, funny thing is that bootlegged VHS movies of dubious quality used to cost (at least some amount of) money, while perfectly pristine 4k movies and TV shows cost nothing today. Without leaving your home. |

BTW: In the early years, VHS was much more expensive than computer games. As shown in an old ad in Lotek64 #63 page 36, the original tape of RAMBO was priced at 298 DM (roughly 150 Euro)! |

if you know the BIG difference cost wise of rental vs home versions of films you get why. it happened with dvd also, but due to how tech had moved on people were encoding etc far quicker.. there was a guy in the UK who got jailed for bootlegging the most famous brand of cartoon films etc.. think "D" .. anyways , due to how good his copies were it was tricky to suss out the proper ones from the fakes. |
