Release id #249734 : Ring Raiders More Rings
Quote:
I really read the .TXT...
...and tried out both .PRGs
But I've got no idea what's going on...
... please clarify emulate/tracker/tool terminology
(paraphrased from TheRyk)
The emulation works similarly to how the Atari 800 emulates the classic Arcade game Asteroids. They both have the same 6502 CPU so the game ROM only needs to talk to VM's for the sound circuitry and vector display to be emulated.
Ring Raiders was written for the Commodore 64 but apparently can be emulated by the Atari 2600.
Here is a white paper comparison with details:

Here is an explanatory white paper on using video games as development tools with detailed instructions on using the Tracker Editor in Ring Raiders.
https://relationalframework.com/Emulating_the_Commodore_64_on_t..
This has already been done very well with SEUCK illustrating a video game can become a dev tools suite.
Similar concept with the sound to edit patterns while hearing the changes. |

You need to get a good Psychoanalyst.
Or maybe you're using drugs so powerful you and you only see things that don't exist.
You're producing garbage everyone laugh about and you even think you're doing someting marvellous.
Shut. The. Fuck. Up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptQKtgtQfrw
And keep your garbage out of CSDb. |

Fjälldata is a fun demo party with a great musical theme.
I saw this great demo earlier Today from Fjälldata 2023 with a shoutout for RelationalFramework:

Why not try the game? Fjälldata rated it 1st place and uploaded it to CSDB. You may like it too if you like Star Raiders action scenes but not the drama.
One question is how to capture the new SID's when someone creates a good melody with the game.
The composer can play DJ and mix in measures or just parts of measure between their new subtunes as they play.
Composer/DJ SID creation is a new concept to explore that can be applied to other sound tools. |

Ring Raiders won the Wild category but there are many categories in the compo so there were many first place finishers.
When bepp posted the results the Wild category was listed at the top which may be a popularity indicator.
You have a background as a musician, how did you like the step thru Editor? |

There must be a second place if it won a first place, right? I want to see it, it must be great too! |

Ring Raiders was listed above the other 1st place prods. You would have to ask the promoters if the game was popular at the party. It's a fun toy where anyone can learn about trackers and compose.
You're a musician but not everyone is and the "hooked on phonics" technology to sound out the notes is what the dev tool is about.
Is there another C64 game that lets you compose the music and create the sound effects? |

Yes, that obviously means something. The order of compos listed in the results isn't completely random at all. That would be very weird. |
