Light background hall of fame type of C64 picture
So I've got the (stupid in a sense[*]) idea that I'd paint one of my walls with 2cm by 1cm pixels in pepto palette based on an instantly recognisable C64 gfx. The requirement though is that it has to come on a (mostly) light background, which is where it gets a bit more tricky. I'd probably go for the opening one from "Deus Ex Machina" w/o much thinking.. but it's interlaced, which is what I'd like to avoid.
What would be your favourites, with the following properties/limitations:
- multicolour or FLI (hires not necessarily excluded but nolace)
- mostly light background
- soft/kids'n girlfriends compatible subject. Not really pink unicorns but still something softer than skulls and monsters/blood drips. Can be technical - just not "dark'n scary"
- is a true, recognisable C64 achievement
?
* - given how time consuming it's going to be to do it right |

there are obvious "big hitters" regarding c64 art.. whether from back in the day or now, where the tools help matters in some case. find a subject you like or a game / demo you like , and a style.
I was a fan of BOB's and SIT's and Robin levy's work from back in the day, a few of many artists. also jon egg has done some nice remakes of old screens in recent years,
my favourite 8 bit pic on many formats , is from zx spectrum one "space harrier remake" . I'm sure c64 art folk get also why i picked it. |

[...] I think the CREST-demos from the 90ies came with all those different FLI-flavoured modes in which they quite often took light grey as background, e.g. the Super Hires FLI pics in Krestology 100%. IIrc such pics with light grey background can also be found in Dane's wonderful Digital Magic.
From the more recent prods, The Sarge's Yeah Science! has already been mentioned, but also Hammerfist's Stained Glass Girl has a good portion of white in it and -even if it does not come with a light background per se, but rather without any black pixels- Electric's Kissmet should also be named here I think. |

Right. This one fits, might still be a bit on the "scary" side though. |
