ECI mode
Why no one uses this mode?
It looks very good.
On TV it nearly doesn't flicker.

My guess is it eats too much time, to be of any use ?
Or it was simply 'forgotten', since it's so old. |

I think that it shouldn't be forgotten.
Where I can find some ECI pictures?

I don't think I have seen any "real" ECI-picture save for the one in Poachers ECI-editor (which I have a full version somewhere, I think) and the graphics in the SSS-ECI demo. If I have understood things correctly, the colors are shifted by altering all lines vertically, which is somewhat limited. If you are supposed to do really nice hiresinterlace, you'll need to be able to alter stuff in any way you want to.
I've used hires-interlace (ECI, although not done in ECI-editor) on quite a few occations. You'll find pictures using this technique in Macho Programming, Sphaeristerium, Under the Edge, The Throckmorton Device and possibly even some others. Some of my compopics are also made in this fashion. |
