Of course a lot depends on whether you are using "the real thing" or cross-development on a PC...? |

No offence, but this is more like the sort of questions to be asked on Lemon64. |

You might find it easiest to use something like Timanthes or Project One which will let you pixel c64 graphics in Windows. If you want a C64 program, look at something like Amica Paint or Advanced Art Studio.
Mace: I don't see why this question shouldn't be asked here, there's probably more people who can advise him than on Lemon, plus last time someone asked something along these lines over there, I seem to remember they got several pages of Tomz talking out of his arse. |

I think interpaint is very userfriendly. Never liked advanced art studio or amica paint from the start.
Maybe start some of these in Vice or try them on the real machine via a file transfer method.

It's not only Tomz, there has been a flurry of new users at lemon who are quite vocal and irritating, so asking anyone to go there for useful info is pretty much cruel & unusual punishment :)
I would also vouch for PC-based tools.
That said, to the original poster, you'll get a lot more mileage from your c64 scene life if you're prepared to challenge yourself. The best absolute-beginner tutorials seem to exist for coders only :) |

indeed, for a start, get project one, and start drawing :) and don't let yourself -or anyone else- put you down if your first few attempts look like crap =D |
