c64 gfx gallery 1 year birthday & new features
Hey folks,
http://c64pixels.com just had its one year anniversary!
Our website dedicated to c64 art launched January 19th 2010.
Thanks to Veto's efforts it's reaching adolescence already :)
Currently more than 700 works from about 130 artists are listed and there is no end
in sight. Recently most of the efforts went into changes in the database handling and its features.
As of now, most of the formerly restricted pictures are accessible to everyone!
Works picturing splatter or strong nudity still require registration for legal reasons though.
Feel free to register for free at any time :)
After literally months of work, most of the tagging structure is redone - partially implementing feature requests by users. Any user can now directly message the admins about certain pictures.
Public comments, however, are not planned.
Yet we appreciate additional information given by users.
There now are a couple of index pages for different categories such as 'games', 'demos' or scene 'parties' including direct link urls, i.e. "http://c64pixels.com/party/breakpoint" links to all pictures released at Breakpoint parties.
One of the new main features will be a selection menu to browse through the gallery more easily.
That item is still work in progress but you can enjoy a little sneak preview here:

Check out the upper right menu...
Wed like to say thanks to all sceners and visitors for the great support, especially some very constructive discussions and hints.
And if you are active on pixel gfx: right now the first c64pixels competition starts!
The theme is "double screen", horizontally or vertically arranged.
The modes should be multicolor, hires or char picture and displayable on a real c64.
(So better grab some coder ;-)
- softscroll is recommended
- no enhanced modes
- no previously released pics
Deadline is April 30th 2011.
Details follow later on this week on c64pixels, csdb and lemon64.
Enjoy,
