The Last Ninja level designer

Hi all.

A few months back I started some development in order to edit LN screens graphics and create new screens using existing building blocks. The application has since then evolved in order to allow most design activities: sprite clipping definition, boundary definition, etc.

A preview/demo version for screen editing was made available last December:
http://luigidifraia.wordpress.com/2012/12/11/new-demo-available..

I'm keeping a history of updates at my Wordpress page as well.

I thought that anybody who could be interested in level design for a new LN title might give the application a go, to see whether they feel comfortable with the editing approach and the engine constraints. More than happy to follow up with critics and requests of enhancement, where possible, but bear in mind this is a preview version.

Current development snapshots already offer the option to save results of the editing and use them to change existing games on the C64 (as per blog pages).

Cheers,

TCE/HF

Hi all.

As previously announced, I managed to build a new public release of Integrator 2012.

This is now a functionally complete exercise, meaning that all editing features are in. The main purpose is still to get familiar with existing designs (by Hugh Riley, Robin Levy, etc.) before trying to make new ones.

The announcement is here: http://luigidifraia.wordpress.com/2013/11/02/integrator-2012-ne..

Hey all. In order to give the project a boost I released a playable demo (based on LN2, no wonders here) of a new and original location (apart for a few objects borrowed from LN3).

Check it out here: http://luigidifraia.wordpress.com/

Yes, a time-dislocation spell by Kunitoki sent Armakuni to Middle Age :)

Thanks guys. I polished the graphics a bit and added a few extras. All re-packaged here, including a new playable demo: http://www.luigidifraia.com/c64/integrator/demos/ninja-returns-..

Thank you. I am not sure how long it would take to get anything "final" to be honest. It would help a lot if people were contributing storyboards, puzzles, graphics, SIDs, etc.

My short-term target is to provide a playable demo with multiple locations interconnected. I am working at my second one at the moment, again inspired by LOTT :)

the medieval house looks super cool. the dashboard would need a facelift aswell.

btw, any thoughts about vendette engine? how much may they differ?

any thoughts on the c64 side of the engine, can level drawing be sped up ?

Thank you. The medieval look is not meant for production though! I am just experimenting with whatever inspires me and learning how to do things effectively :)

Vendetta uses the same engine as LN2, LN3 and Time Machine. In fact Integrator 2012 supports (to different extents) all of them since last year: http://luigidifraia.wordpress.com/2012/12/11/new-demo-available..

There are a few things prone to improvement, but changes to the engine are actually out of scope as I am trying to keep the same look and feel as the original LN games (and save time!).

Hi all.

I thought to publish some work in progress made using my level designer. It's basically LN3 partly "rewritten" using LN2's game engine and sprites. It is available here:

http://www.luigidifraia.com/c64/integrator/demos/ln3-rewrite-v4..

Let me know what you think if you get a chance to try it out :)

Cheers,
