What is this SID covering?
I'm going mad. Stumbled over a demo from 1986:ish (Dragon's Lair Demo) with this sid in it -> Dragon's Lair Demo
The sid appears to be filled with contemporary covers. First one is "So Far Away" by Dire Straits, third is "Take on Me" by AHA. What drives me mad is that i'm unable to place the song inbetween then (01:19-02:25). I get UK New Romantic vibes, but that is about as far as I get. Anyone able to give me some peace of mind? |

Well spotted, for the record, there's no hint in the demo itself.
So far the STIL entry looks like this (<?> placeholders only to show the 2 missing covers)
/DEMOS/A-F/Dragons_Lair_Demo.sid
TITLE: So Far Away [from Brothers in Arms] (00:00-01:19)
ARTIST: Dire Straits
TITLE: <?> (01:19-2:26)
ARTIST: <?>
TITLE: Take On Me [from Hunting High and Low] (2:26-4:30)
ARTIST: A-Ha
TITLE: <?> (04:30-6:36)
ARTIST: <?>

I already had listened to it and have 0 clue about song 2 but song 4 gave me some Beatles vibes but again: no real clue.
Masons guess sounds pretty close, though! |

For some odd reason song 2 reminds me a bit of Duran Duran - A View To A Kill but on the other side no |

The second tune is One World (from Brothers in Arms). |

j0x: Indeed it is! The vibe is far from the guitar-slinging on the record, but it must be? The hints was actually in the scroller after all! Twisting by the Pool might be right too, fits the theme. Many thanks, this has been rubbing me the wrong way for two days. :-) |

So it seems we have a final list, can we confirm it? I'm not sold on the "Twisting By The Pool" part, I can't hear anything from it here.

Quoting iAN CooG I'm not sold on the "Twisting By The Pool" part, I can't hear anything from it here.
I'm not convinced it's the same song. The melody in the .SID seems to be all over the place compared to the dire straits song. |

Yeah nah, no similarities to Twisting By The Pool whatsoever.
The song is somewhat familiar though, and it really bothers me now that I can't remember what it is. Damn you TwoFlower for bringing this up! 😅 |

Song 4 is Two Young Lovers, also from ExtendedancEPlay. So Mason's guess was pretty close. :-) |
