SIDs for freeware game
Hello,
I'm a programmer and I'm working on a Tetris game clone. It's colorful and with robotic theme so I wanted to add some electronic music. And what is more electronic than SIDs? :)
I wanted to ask if is there some composer who could give me few SIDs with permission that I can play them in my freeware game. Of course I will give all credits.
Game is nothing big so all I want is only some already created music (about 3 or 4 tracks), it could be something quick and crazy.
Is there anyone who could help me? |

I'd guess there are plenty of composers around here who wouldn't mind if you used their stuff.
No, I'm not proposing myself here. But I probably wouldn't mind either :-D
If you ask nicely, someone might even fix you up with an exclusive tune. |

Hi StainlessSteel,
thank you for your reply. I have checked your music and I like "So_Predictable". So if you would not mind I would love to use it - it's quick and possitive.
I saw that you have some other stuff in Favorites#2, It's also yours? I like Zardax.
About your reply again, so you say that I should search this web and choose some tunes and then countact particular author, right? I'm a bit confused here because there is so much stuff :) Do you have any suggestions (friends/favourite composers whou would borrow me few tracks)? |

personally, if its for a scene/freeware/non profit thing... i would browse hvsc, pick a tune, and be done with it :=) it worked for the last 3 decades =D |

@sdraco : most of my stuff are remixes/covers (so_predictable is one of my rare originals), feel free to use whichever you like, as long as its for non-profit.
And what Groepaz said. |

Hi,
thanx everybody for replies.
Really can I feel free to use tunes from hvsc? I have some favourite ones but most of them are missing author so I didn't want to steal any credits. Maybe I will just specify filename and that It's from hvsc in game credits.
To Linus: Your tunes are so nice but my project is small so I don't want to uselessly make somebody working on exclusive new tunes. Maybe if I will make something bigger in future I will ask. Anyway, I'm glad that I have an opened door there.
Thanx again for support, I will post here a link to game when It will be released :) |

Don't worry about Linus. he'll just recycle one of his older tunes, as usual. |

But he can always optimise them. ;) |

Don´t worry about Stainless Steel either. His popular-top40-hit.midi to .sid converter works pretty reliable by now. |

Quoting sdracoHi,
I have some favourite ones but most of them are missing author
Actually, we should all use missing-author-tunes. Tunes will get attention and thus be identified ;)

Quoting Ianwait, this means you've only CONVERTED your tunes with a tool? Yes, it converts midi files directly into SDI. It's a super secret tool glenn wrote for me a couple of years ago. It even comes with rythm presets and an automatic instrument mapper.
So awesome. |

Would be an awesome tool for sure if it weren´t for all those nasty instrument and filter bugs :)

So I think we figured it out, some third party components versions were messed up. If anyone wants to check it out, use link
http://www.sdraco.cz/index.php?art=hra-robotris-remake-tetris
(site is in Czech so click on link with floppy drive icon ;-))
To Stainless: OK, we will add your fullname to Beta, you are now named in this alpha release as StainlessSteel.
In Beta it will be:
-------------------
Titles: So Predictable, Zardax_one
author: Joe "Stainless Steel" Barwick
Released: 2008 Paramount, Germany
Is it correct? |

That's fine. Though those particular two aren't my best tunes. But if you like them I'm happy :-D
