converting to cell phone ringtones
Is it possible to convert and C64 music into mp3 or mid so that it can be played on a cell phone as a ring tone?
I'd love that.

Sure you can.. If you use SidPlay2 to play the SIDs, you can save them as WAV files and then convert these to mp3 if you wish.
You _can_ also convert a SID to a midifile using SID2MIDI, which can be found here: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lakes/5147/sid2midi.html
..now the results are very.. erhm.. well, different in quality ;-) ..back when I had Nokia phones, I successfully converted Lightforce and The Last V8, which both sound sort of ok as ringtones on those devices. But be warned: You WILL loose the SIDnes of the tunes!

Thanks a bundle, now i just need to get a dissambler so that i can dismantle my old c64 demo and get the music as a sid file.
Not owning a C64 box anylonger kinda makes i a bit weird to do.

VICE (a C64 emulator -> http://www.viceteam.org ) can also directly write the sound as .wav file, so you don't need to create .sids first. Then again, i think it's very unlikely the music in your demo is not in the HVSC already (High Voltage Sid Collection -> http://hvsc.c64.org ) |

But Sidplay2/w can't run demos... ;-)
S2, if you're looking for that certain tune and you're not sure if it's in HVSC or not, give me a link and I'll let you know. |

Hey Sloop II. Nice seeing you online. Maybe you don't remember me. I met you at the 2000 AD party back in 1989. Just found out that you more or less lives in my neighbourhood... Funny ;) |
