Question for Linus
I keep wondering what some of my favorite musicians use to create their music. Since Linus is one of my favorites and I noticed he visits here frequently, I thought I would ask.
Do you use an emulator or do you use a real c64? What trackers do you use? Do you use any special hardware?
I am interested in doing this myself, so I thought it would help to know what musicians like you use.
Thanks!

Quote: Hi, Trizon!
Linus' tunes were made with GoatTracker V1.x and V2.x, which is a PC based tracker.
GoatTracker V2.0
If you want to know what player a composer used, or what player a certain tune uses, the author of GoatTracker made a nice tool for that called SIDid:
SIDId V1.06
It reveals the following from Linus tunes:
Detected players:
GoatTracker_V1.x 17
GoatTracker_V2.x 18
Wow, thanks for the reply! That is an awesome tool!
I'll be using it all the time now.

I would fully recommend this tool, trizon. It is one of the best composer tools ever made. Not only Linus, but a lot of other great composers use this tool as well, such as Jammer, Hein Holt, Randall, A-Man, and also myself :-)
Good luck in using it :-) It's very easy to use and quite powerful too.
Although PC based, it is able to compile the tunes into .prgs as well to be used on a real c64. |

I know that this is off topic, but someone brought up sidID, and I've never tested it before..
When I did some of my old tunes, done in my driver from 1989 evaluated to "Sid duzz'it" :) .. Who maintains the sidID cfg file?.. |

I think everybody can work on it and create new signatures and send them to Cadaver. If you can still remember your coding crimes of back then, why not adjust the signatures yourself? :) |

The SDI signature is indeed quite sketchy right now and it's actually not surprising to produce false positives:
ce ?? ?? 10 ?? ce ?? ?? ce ?? ?? ce END
If anyone has a better SDI signature for (or many, if needed) then send to me.

That's why I want to know who maintains them :) |

I am one of the volunteers. :)
I just sent some new ids to Cadaver, your players now identify as Vibrants/Laxity instead of Geir Tjelta, and his players have less generic IDs too. |
