Tunes youd like to see re created using Sid
Maybe there are some musicians walking around scratching theirs heads, wondering what tune to re create using the power of Sid
Some suggestions:
Swimming with Sharks - Theme
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkKlHnVM9aI
The Howling - End Theme
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx1ny_caZMU
Gremlins - Theme
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqrytGO8S1g
The Gremlins theme as been covered already, but it wasnt all that great. Given the instruments, Tim Follin might have been the ideal musician for the job, during that period.

This one from K-Pist:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VtoTwQeuf0
and:
- "Level III" off their 2002 album "Enemies of Silence".
- "Voltage Controlled" off their 1997 album "Voltage Controlled".
There are a bunch of songs in the same style on demo CD by A-Tuna (Anders Lind). |

I started to create a cover of it a year ago or so but gave up at some point. Might revisit it, let´s see. |

@Mr SID
Gremlins
Mark Cooksey made an ok effort with his cover for the game Gremlins 2. It does sound a bit weak. Draxs effort has more punch.
It would be interesting to hear a Sid instrument make the sounds of a Gremlin's voice. As thats what I hear during the original film score.
Midnight Express - Chase theme
Feekzoids arrangement is good. Im sure a double speed tune could produce better instruments.
@Linus Good luck. |

Toto - "Child's Anthem"
Would be perfect for a beginning in demos and quite easy to compose I guess. |

i think, this would kick ass in a demo:
"kalkbrenner - gebrünn gebrünn"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f99ey0hrOrQ
"sky and sand" would also be fine... but coz of the
lyrics hard to release i think.

There is quite a few tunes I'd like to be translated to the c64. Just some from memory... Well, that's personal anyway and doesn't even grasp more than a fraction of all I like.
Kraftwerk, Vitamin:

Richard D. James, Window Licker:

Einstürzende Neubauten, Youme & Meyou
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ulbK3tUMNg
Pyrolator, Wunderland

Here is another one from Neubauten, which probably regardless of the lyrics would make a sweet melody:

and of course "Dangerzone" by Kenny Loggins
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8rZWw9HE7o[/url]
both done in Galway "leccy guitar" style obviously :)
although Hubbard "ace II" style would be "acceptable" :P

Yeah, Rob's version of Do or Die (from Synth Sample III if I recall correctly) is legendary, but there needs to be a full version, Rob's is just a 15 seconds loop.

I will only cover/remix a special tune that has been a good part of my life, i mean that i "felt" for this tune ever since it was new and i want to upgrade it.
I would never port/cover/remix something i dont know.
It takes several years, to really truly know any tune, so that it becomes part of you, and only then, can the desire awaken, to upgrade it.
There's only 10+ sid makers that can do all those things that you want them to do.. properly, decently.
Unless there is added value, there is no creative soulfood for the composer, to make reproductions.
Im just telling you.
on youtube there are some tutorials that will make it easy for you to start handling SDI the music editor and get started. you can all do music, you just dont know, because you never tried, you never invested the time to learn something, you skipped class because "its too hard".
I know that anybody can learn to make their own music, because i teach kids to make music. not my own, but their own.
and you can do it too, if you want.
you can do all that you tryly want to do.
so that is my suggestion to you hopeless dreamers :)
www.youtube.com/sidwave
SDI tutorials (not how to make music, but how to use the program)
stop dreaming and do what you always dreamed about. |

Ok. Sorry for cursing but I had sort of bad day ;) I know that editing BBQuote is everything but a problem and should've used it instead. Isn't 'Quote' option a bit redundant? I cannot think of any other forum that allow non-BBcode quoting ;)
Yes, I can edit my post, still I have no access to quoted part. I don't remember whether it has ever been an issue. I'll hit Perff then, thx. |

i agree that having two quote options is retarded, no idea why the non bbcode quote exists either :) |
