ok thanx for the reply, what is your advice in general: a modern system
such as a cinema system with many options or an old school system.
I have a Sony amplifier with Jamo speakers and a Kenwood equalizer.
The Sony has an output of 4 x 80 watt and the speakers give me 90 watt each,
This system is about 10 years old. and I noticed that 'channels' between
6 and 16khz are slightly distorted, but my Monsterbeat headphone gives a really good result.
i have tried to adjust this with the equalizer with different results.
my knowledge of the sid powers is unfortunately insufficient yet.
maybe a strange question but since the monsterbeat uses the same amplifier,
it maybe the Jamo speakers who are not the right type.. it seems to me that
a amplifier use the same technology for the speakers
as for the headphone but with a lower watt circuit.

Dont buy a cinema system, you dont need more that 2 channels.
Buy a 2 channel amp and they lay all the money and effort on 2 channels.
The modern speakers dont bring the soft mid-range, as old speakers, because of different paper in the speakers.
When the right amp-speaker combination is in use, the equlizer is not nessasary, but only the bass and treble adjustments. The sensitive mid-range should never be touched.

ok thanks for the info.. i buy a 2 channel system with
old speakers.. and use the cinema for modern multymedia.
i already thought so but had to know it for sure.
i already had a cinema system ...
last question: do you mean a digital processing amplifier
of a analog system...
i think i end up with 3 systems:
-cinema system for modern games and multymedia
-analog system with old big speakers for real sid
-digital processing with Monsterbeat headphone for real sid

Akai or Fisher, i recommend as amplifier
And as speakers , Yamaha or Dali.
There is a 6,5" speaker called Dali 102. Made in Denmark
They fit with most amps

Perhaps that the sidchip you have, is damaged. I have a c128 (sid6581), and the sound has a bit distortion or the sound is not so clear as it should be.
