Sidplay2/w
I use Sidplay2/w win32 version 2.6 (Aug 6 2011) to listen to sids. I always have the idea that something is wrong with the playback. What are the best settings for listening to sids ?? |

there is no "best", every sid chip sound different anyway. Some sid files are marked for 6581, some for 8580, but which submodel is really used by the authors is not known, not counting all those which is still unknown if old or new sid was used.
Then add to this all the different sid emulation engines, all sounding different. You'll have the same problem also on real c64s with different chips. |

When changing chip model, don't forget to choose a new filter curve too, otherwise the combined waveforms from the previous chip model will be played still. |

xIII/WOW: Try to use Sidplay2/w 2.5 first, 2.6 introduced filter distortion many sids have. Some tunes may sound broken, maybe the 2.5 will work better for you instead ;) |

uh, i'd say the other way, sidplay2.6 plays sids that previous version couldn't. But it's also true that requires more CPU power than previous. |
