Ripping other sites

I've seen a couple of examples where the download-file is taken from some other c64-related site, like c64hq.com for ex. Is this consider ok, taking files from other sites to add here? Not that it bother me much - I'm just curious.

I don't think that the files are 'taken' from there, the links just points to an external file. Welcome to the internet my friend ;)

@TDJ: I don´t think that´s what TWR ment. ;)

Well,when I had nothing left to upload,I ripped some cracks from GB64,Beastie Boys-stuff if I remember.
And I have also added some missing party-demos that originate from C64.CH,but not many.

But my "lacking-something-to-upload-period" is gone for quite some time. 8D
I don´t encourage ripping sites,but have nothing against it either.

Aha, so you've really taken files from somewhere else and uploaded them here?

That's .. different ..

Whenever I see an entry with just a link pointing to the file I upload it (if I have it) cause that feels safer. Links tend to expire.

Hehe,boredom can make a man go nuts! ;)

Well,if I had a sorted collection,it would be easier to upload.
I just browse thru vast amounts of unnamed D64s and add what I like.
Which is at the moment only stuff from before 1994.
Have to keep something for, lets say, 2008+... ;)

I don't believe you can "own" this type of information (the release and it's credits), but you should always show the courtesy of keeping the original site/image credits.

Usually there is info in an image/archive about who created (or transferred) the file, so as long as the actual archive is not altered I don't think people mind. Atleast I don't mind if people take the uploads I put here and for example dump them on some ftp site.

I have nothing against linking to files from the Demodungeon, just for the record.
