deleted stuff
Submitted by fade [PM] on 26 May 2007
... i locked the entries because i am sick of seeing my stuff get del'ed.. Joy Division is one group that comes to mind, also a lot of aussie sceners of olde.
--
i heard things like this several times now ...
i can not understand why this is happening!
perff, pls do something against it!!
my ideas:
1. force deleter to give a reason!
2. make a list of deleted entries for us mods, so we can check things and validate or give an admin (if the mods shouldnt be able to undelete) a sign to restore it!
3. whoever creates an entry should get a message when his/her entry has been deleted!! (or any other solution like that) |

It's not only deleting...
I told that before, that you should be informed about deleting..

and maybe even informed about changes, so you can react at once if you want to!
perhaps it would be a good idea to make a similar system like there is in the forum, where i can be informed about changes to the topic...
so i can even choose other entries where i will be informed when someone changes things |

Forcing a deleter to give a reason will only work if that reason then appears in place of the release, along with the name of the person who did the deleting. Even then, I guess a fake account could be used for trashing someone elses work.
It should be easier to restore stuff (by either moderators, or the original uploader) that has been removed. As CSDB is at the moment, it is not so easy to add a release and update all details, if that then gets maliciously removed some people just won't bother replacing it again.
How often does one need to use delete on here anyway? Maybe the power to do so should be limited or removed?
Just some thoughts anyway.

deleting should be only possible by the one who created or ownz it (and if not available then by mods on request) and it would be nice to have a 'log' like the 'last posts', where the last 20-50 actions or so will be shown with the name of the person who deleted or change something...
and there should be always a backup for restore, but I guess myself Perff has a backup (c;
___
btw, would be also nice to show "LAST LOGIN"-Date on persons profile, so we can see if someone still running around here or it's a dead account... I pm'ed a few old friendz but never got an answer, guess they're either not often here or left csdb...
but that's something for another topic, hehe... (c; |

I like the idea of a list of what entries have been edited since last visit! |

all the incomplete entries that get locked just really pisses me off.
I'd start a new entry with the full credits oh yeah I would. and I wouldn't lock it.
fuck we're all so fussy lately what's going on?
reminds me of kindergarten.
JUST DON'T LOCK ANY ENTRY BEFORE IT'S COMPLETE!! is it really that hard? |

open the locked entries..
When i can see who changed something, then i think it is easier to avoid actions from the past... |

Couldn't agree more. I have ran into such entries countless of times, and it damned annoying. So fucking much annoying that I often felt utter dejectedness to continue with editing/adding releases. |

s/since/until/
jb, look at the times, we are just planning, waiting for perff to implement one or the other of those ideas :)
locking wouldnt even be a problem
if every user could leave suggestions to the maintainer with same ease as actually changing the record... |

that's what the msg system is for.
my profile is locked, and will stay locked. Tired of people putting false info in it.
I'm sure others feel the same.

no, fungus, the msg system is too hard for that to use
read post #32 from jailbird
we need something simple for the user or more will stop enhancing entries when its so much work to do ...
submitting the info to a queue which is then shown to the maintainer would solve this ... |
