Comments from a specific user
Just a fun stuff kind of feature. How about the listing of all comments from a specific user? |

Do you really need to spy on users? I think that function should be available for mods, but nit for regular users. |

What, reading comments from other sceners now counts as spying?! Sorry, but how, by which means? Please explain, I'm quite curious.
Oh, so admins would have the right to "spy" (whatever you mean by that), others do not. Perfectly reasonable.
By the way, by listing comments from a specific user I'd be able to find insightful commentaries from sceners I respect for their intriguing opinions (Ed, Twoflower, TDJ, CreaMD, Leon, etc etc). The comments are all public, aren't they? So I really don't get why would a list of them hurt anyone's privacy? |

Well, first of all, those comments would be out of context - making very little sense in way too many cases. For mods that could still be of value to check if the user is spamming or posting "fuck you" in every second post.
Second, i do not wish so you could browse my comments like that. I know i'm not one of those respected sceners, but still that is my opinion. |

It would be nice to have as an option that you could switch on in your profile ("allow listing of my comments to other users"). I would have no problem to switch it on. |

Oh yeah, and while you're at it make it optional to list all releases from a specific scener in the scener profile - for the datamining paranoids. It should be enough to stumble over one's releases by accident or by entering the title directly in the search field.
Edit: -> ;-) |

Dude, I'm talking about a list like your comment history.
Secondly, don't write fucking comments if you wouldn't like them to seen by others.
Never mind, forget it. It's not worth the hassle. |

I know what you are talking about.

I don't mind if they are seen in the place where i left them. I do mind, if they are ale shown in one place taken out of context. |

Obviously, not.

But man, they'd be not taken out of context! The page would consist of a list of products where you have commented. Dare to explain how are your comments taken out of context this way?

I agree with Jailbaby, would be a nifty feature. I would also love to be able to see all the votes of a certain person. |

OK.
First note to self - don't post in the middle of the night when you are hardly awake. My bad.
Second. In your fist post you didn't mentioned list of links to productions where you commented, but list of comments. That's a difference.
List of links to productions where you commented is much more acceptable, I still do not want that feature though, and i'm voicing my thoughts. I have the right to not wanting it, as much as you have for wanting it.

"Don't Call Me Jailbaby"
[Verse 1]
You and me, we have an opportunity
And we could make it something really cool
But you, you think I'm not that kind of boy
I'm here to tell you baby, I know how to rock your world
[Bridge]
Don't think that I'm not strong
I'm the one to take you on
Don't underestimate me boy
I'll make you sorry you were born
You don't know me
The way you really should
You sure misunderstood
[Chorus]
Dont' call me Jailbaby
You got some nerve, and baby that'll never do
You know I don't belong to you
It's time you knew I'm not your Jailbaby
I belong to me, so
Don't call me Jailbaby
[Verse 2]
Behind my smile is my IQ
I must admit, this does not sit, with the likes of you
You're really sweet
Mmm, you're really nice
But didn't mama ever tell you not to play with fire?
[Bridge]
[Chorus]
[Verse 1 again]
[Bridge]
[Double chorus]

Quoting JetboySecond. In your fist post you didn't mentioned list of links to productions where you commented, but list of comments. That's a difference.
Right, I realized that it wasn't 100% clear about it, sorry for that.

I don't quite catch what's wrong about it, but fine with me. Just as der_ton mentioned, it could be an option to switch on/off the list. Most of us probably wouldn't mind at all if it would be visible.
Yet I still don't really get why are you writing comments in the first place if you're afraid of exposing a list of the products you have commented on? I could run into them accidentally too, is that so better? |

Jailboy would like to have a list of commented productions,TDJ would love to follow votes, and i for one would find it useful to have a list of added csdb entries from each account. some people add alot of interesting stuff and the list would help me to pick it all up. |

Ya ya, whatever.
I think this site was meant to be about scene releases, not about people's comments.
Well, you proved that this functionality is not needed here as that would be doubling of google's functionality. |

So wrong. Following your logic, don't you think that the comment section is unnecessary all in all? We should drop it right now, yea? And in this case, why are you expressing your opinions on releases, at all?
Quoting JetboyWell, you proved that this functionality is not needed here as that would be doubling of google's functionality.
Yes, now as I realized, I don't need it any more. But still, it would be more convenient to have the list inside the UI of CSDb. |

So by utilizing Google's indexing, this could be also solved. So simply the "Created by..." header should be moved out from showing up only on the user-restricted area and that's it, you'd have a workaround.
Any objections, Jetboy? Does it clashes with your human right practices? Or have a better idea by any chance? |

You are jumping into conclusions here. I never said comments are unnecessary. I only think that tools to dig through them on the per user basis are not really needed. That's it.
Notice that after we cleared up MY misunderstanding how do you imagine the list to look like, i said this is acceptable to me.
Admins will implement this (or not) regardless of my opinion anyway, so there is no point to fight for convincing me. |

First you're talking about the site meant to be about scene releases and not about people's comments - and then I'm the one jumping into conclusions? Oo-kay.
As for me, I enjoy reading/writing comments just as much as I love browsing through releases. And I'm quite sure that a lot of us look on it the same way.
And fine, we were actually arguing about a highly hypothetical thing, but even if such an option would show up, you'd be able to turn it off. We are settled on this then? |
