plus4/c16/vic20

Suggested before as I understood, but would make sense to add these as categories in CSDB.

Pretty please :)

i just dont think that even more stuff like that should be added as long as the TODO list contains enough to keep perff busy until 2035.

what about starting something from scratch instead, preferably avoiding all the now known problems/flaws of csdb? sounds like a great opportunity for some people who know how to do it to me =P

As nice as it'd be, I just don't see it happening.

I'm pretty sure this discussion has come by at least once before.

Besides, there's always Pouet and http://demozoo.org/]Demozoo[/url] (which is still in closed-ish testing, but from what I've seen very promising).

On the other hand, we do also have c128 and DTV releases here, so... yeah. explain *that* shit.

these can both run C64 software and thus are somehow related. thats how far we stretch it :)

Also C128 and DTV have never had their own scenes separate from the C64 scene.

Well, does CSDb stand for Commodore Scene Database or commodore 64 scene database?!?

Well, the main reason why I thought vic/c16/+4 entries could be in csdb is that I thought there was a bit of overlap between the 'scenes'. People who do stuff for those machines also do stuff for c64 under the same handles and vice versa etc. (Soci for instance!)

So apparently there is a sort of consensus on this matter, just not one that agrees with me :) That's fine I guess. Good to see some discussion about it anyway.

The only opinion I really do not agree on is that the existing sites do the job better than CSDB. The concept of an open collaborative database which csdb is _does_ work, without too much drama and trolling. Over 110K entries prove it. That is something the c64 'scene' can be proud of.

I guess with demo entries getting lesser and lesser each year, would be an idea to emalgamate other 8 bit commodore entries.

http://plus4world.powweb.com/ indeed covers +4/C16 well, but is there's a decent place to follow the VIC-20?

The last time we discussed this (five years ago), there was a quite hostile "welcome" from the Plus/4 scene, especially from that very kind dude named Csabo who's administering the plus4world site. He's even worse than Groepaz, and that says a lot :)
So all I have to say is: fuck'em.

I can't find an RSS feed for VIC-20 releases there, and drinking from the whole pouet.net hose is out of the question.

+1, as IMHO there's a lot of crossover in substance. (SID tunes done for sidcard-using +4 demos, for instance)

We have VIC-20 and DTV/2/3 stuff here, so why not +4?

apart those made by Luca/FIRE, there are a whole TWO other sid tunes made by plussy sceners, rest is always reused & converted from c64 sids.

I can't fix it if the BBCode interpreter on CSDb is broken.

And here is something I started a few years ago but stopped maintaining.
I had some sort of csdb for VIC20 in mind.

Anyway, the files are still there.

@JB: I have to say f word (fuck you) to you too.
Plus4world.com is doing great and there's no need to create c+4 dept here. They have games, covers (do you have that? it's like csdb+lemon64 combined),demos (and me) these times so again fuck you nvidia... i mean JBird.

and leave Plus/4 in it's right part of the web as they (we) are doing great.
and get off of Oswald. Because as they (us) say "Lengyel, Magyar – két jó barát, együtt harcol, s issza borát". So again fuck you JB and
hope to see you both (Oswald, and JB) at X'12.

<obvious troll>
ps. Oh and I bet Jailbird can't pixel on Plus/4. Cant he?

Not only overlap in the scenes, but also overlap in graphics, music, code :)

A lot of older +4 Megademos simply ripped code, graphics, SID tunes from C64, so you could say many of them are "C64 demos" :D
