Games and Cracks
..now, that someone added Thalamus as a group...
maybe its time to add "Game Company" or "Game Publisher" to the group categories, if we really need to have this kind of stuff in the scene database...
another thing... I'm still kind of unhappy with the way cracks are added to the database... I'd like to see cracks somehow linked to the original game, with another table to check/uncheck "features" of the crack...
- amount of trainers
- passwords yes/no
- highscore saver yes/no
- pal/ntsc fix yes/no
... etc., so you can have an easy overview over the different cracked versions of a game... the later this is added, the harder it'll get to add this info to already added cracks at a later date... |

...that entry should be deleted, right? |

I don't think game publishers/developers and game cracks should be listed here. There are way too many cracks for each game, it is not much of interest i think to list them all. |

I don't agree with you Vai, there are a lot of collectors out there who would like all cracks from certain groups. |

I've thought along those lines for a while now - right after someone added CMD...
If we're going to include game developers, hardware companies, etc. there should be more categories added to the Db.

Right !!! Even if I don't collect ALL versions, I'd like to keep the best one at my eyes. So a kind of DB may be very usefull.

The soon Mason can build and catalogue his collection, the better then. |

I didn't think game cracks should be added either, but I was told that cracks were such an essential part of the scene, that they should be in the database aswell...
I still think, that a game crack isn't the same kind of release as demos, intros, heck.. anything else is, since (in my eyes) there's not much creativity to game cracks (at least most of them), but if we do need game cracks in the database, I'd really like them to be added in the form I described above...
at least that way it'd give the possibility to check which crack of a certain game to get (if available) and to me, as someone who created a few games in the past, it'd be nice to have an overview what cracks there were of a particular game I did... |

There are several Game Publishers added to the database already, not just Thalamus.
I think that cracks should be added to the database, as it's definately a major part of the scene (or should this be the CLSDb - Commodore Legal Scene Database?).
I really like the idea of adding more detail to the cracks, perhaps there is some way the cracks could be 'linked' to the original game, listed under it's publisher with proper credits etc. So that if you wonder how many cracks there are of a certain game you just look up the game and all the different cracks are listed there...

Yep Seven,
I like your idea.
I myself added some game company's aswell and I was a bit confused in which category I should place them.
Anyhow, I like the idea of trainers/fixers/highscoresaver/... too.
