Credit for music ripping?

Could we have the possibility to set a credit for "ripp"? There are a lot of "ripp-demos" around 85-87, where the main effort is ripping the music out. (e.g No Comments, NSC Sounds XIV) I usually put this credit down as "crack", but it would be nice to have a bit more nuance...

i add such releases as:
code:..... the one who ripped it and made the screen around it
music: ....the one who actually did the music

i think that's the way?

It could be, but where does it say? Ripping isn't exactly coding, so it's kind of strange to mark it as such. "crack" is more accurate, but if "ripp" was available the confusion would be less.
I'd say "code" for the one who coded the demo, "ripp" for the one who "ripped" out the music if this was a significant effort, and "music" for the one who wrote the music.

no need to add this function. was there ever any function on the scene called "ripper" ? quess what would be if everyone start to rip everything ;-) by the way, ripping is not cracking, ripping is nothing special. Better give the proper credits for the author of the tune.

So which is hardest do you think: cracking it (Arkanoid +2), or ripping the music from it? (No Comments)
I'd say that the main effort of No Comments is ripping the music out. Ofcourse credit should be given to both the ripper and the musician. The "ripp" entry should ofcourse only be used if the ripping was a significant event.
I never heard of a function called ripper, but a lot of crackers around 1986-1987 released disks full of ready made ripps which demo coders could use.

Very good example, that Arkanoid music was a real pain to make a clean rip of.

I'm not sure what to think of this topic, but the credit "Ripp" is now created. Then the people can use it if they want, or not. :)

Shouldn't that be "rip"? :)

Perhaps. :) I'm a bit tired today, and I just copy-pasted what was written in this thread.

"Rip" or "Ripp"?

its 'rest in peace, please'; ripp.

btw, it makes no sense if crackers dont add credits for the creators of the game too.
