It's not about having them admit, it's about adding them that way =) |

Tecmo : members who payed for being in a group. F4CG and Legend had a lot of these members as an example.
An other kind of pay-members are the members who are payed by the group for doing something.
Maybe we should make a difference in this :
1.paid member
2.paying member
only an idea...

actually MOST (cracker-) groups back then had one or more paymembers..... you can probably divide those into a couple of different "types" though:
a) "true" paymembers. those mostly were local lahmas who didnt have any skills whatsoever, and they payed for beeing mentioned in memberlists and alike.
b) "volunteer" paymembers. strange type of persons they were :o) those were usually more or less "irrelevant" sceners (swappers) which had contact to one of the "big" warez groups. they sent them money for originals to crack and in return got those cracks earlier than others (atleast thats what they believed ;D) ... some of those were mentioned in memberlists aswell [it might sound strange but there actually were those guys... "here are 100dm for originals, have fun..." - and noone asked them for that ;o)]
c) "original suppliers" - they might not want to hear that, but a lot of those were (and still are) to be considered beeing paymembers aswell. (that is, if the only thing they did was buying originals at their "fast" shop)
d) the totally other way around, "payed members" ... a LOT (if not all) of the big (PC-) warez groups have them these days (i dont think many of the c64 groups had them to be honest) .... fulltime payed crackers who work for the money. (whores they are, screw them)
e) a mild form of d).... members of successful groups which sold part of their work to other groups. eg many coders made intros for a small fee back in the 80s [even i did ;D], gfx ppl (some music guys aswell) even formed their own groups for that purpose. however, this doesnt really fall into the "paymember" cathegory IMHO.
however, i guess having two cathegories "paymember" and "payed member" would serve the purpose well enough :o) (though, it might be nice to add a second function in that case aswell.... like "original supplier/paymember" or "graphic artist/payed member") |
