.: records :.

Hey all ;-)

Any chance of adding 'records' to the information that comes with the demo you select, eg: next to trivia, hidden parts, goofs. In this section you could state a world record in coding, like the highest number of multiplexed sprites at the time, OR for all time.

Actually, is there a website anywhere that states all the world records in coding at all ? And by who / when / how / ?

Hehe, yeah! That info would be nice to know!
But I guess this is exactly what the Trivia field was made for. Put it into that field if you still remember which demo broke which record.

Still i think it would be coolest with a seperate record for records (...), so there could be made some statistic on it.

You know that filling these fields with content would be hell of a work?? And probably inacurate as well if you extract all the info out of the scrolltexts. You'd need lot of very well informed demofreaks to make that reliable. But well, I wouldn't object against a separated records record (duh!).

Maybe the best idea would be to do in year order, that is if you decide to do a seperate 'records' section. (1001 crew in 1986 with their sideborder scroller ??? etc...) This way you could see the progress of each record over a period of time and see trends for when the scene decided to move on and try somthing different.

i see discussions raise who did what earlier than the other and which code is really the one they are boasting about or somehow fake.

"It's an 2000 Sprite Multiplexor!"
"No, its just stamping"

However, i would like to have such entries for releases,
debates could be done via Goofs or something.

Whats the world record for "number of scroll-texts" ?

Happy new Year 2003!

JCB, beware that the multiplexer sortroutine I use performs just a trivial one-pass loop, if the sprites' Y-order hasn't changed since last frame :) (not sure if it could achieve the sprite record, though)

I'm sure that there a few ways of doing some of the records for certain pieces of code, that could be a discussion point. It would be nice to have some 'expert' thoughts and technical information about some of the methods, in particular from those that did the records (if possible) or from other leaders in the coding field, eg: Crossbow, Graham, HCL, Krill...
